3.7 stars overall - stellar acoustics, passable drinks, mixed experience with logistics
Music: Enjoyed John Coltrane A Love Supreme. Acoustics are outstanding. The storytelling of the album was simple (might have expected more knowledge of the album), with the host spending majority of time introducing us to the acoustic sound equipment of the room, which was quite impressive.
Drinks: Cocktails are very mid, $18+ and there is a single bartender. As several reviewers note, drinks are not permitted in the listening room, so make sure to enjoy your drink prior to your scheduled session. Kept it simple with bourbon on rocks.
Seating: Arrived 5PM for 6PM session to grab a quick drink and lined up ~5:20PM to be first in line (seating is first-come, first-serve). Shoes off in the listening room. Best seats are front and center of the listening room, uncomfortable stools towards the back.
Time: Best session time to enjoy deep listening is 6PM, as the main lounge is quieter (with no prior sessions).

Atmosphere is everything and the Shibuya Room exudes it. From the nondescript entry to the lounge and listening room, every aspect of the place sets the visitor up for what comes next. I have had the joy of attending several listening sessions and each one resulted in a unique and enjoyable experience.

Drinks were delicious, service was great. The owner is a nice guy, and after chatting with him, it is clear that every small detail of the space has been extremely well thought out. I will definitely be returning to enjoy some more hi-fidelity music.

The Hi-Fi listening room is truly unique and a really special place. I realized I hadn’t listened to an album front to back in a long time, and this experience reminded me why that matters. Being asked to leave our shoes at the door and keep food and drinks in the lounge was a great way to encourage full focus on the music. It was a wonderful way to experience the Brandi Carlile concert.
I do agree with others who’ve noted that the stools may be uncomfortable. Fortunately, my friend and I were able to snag the more comfortable chairs in the front, so I can only imagine how the seating in the back feels over the course of the session.
Our DJ was knowledgeable about the room and the equipment, but didn’t share much about the artist. I would have loved to hear more about Brandi Carlile herself and the story behind how the album came to be.

Listened to U2 Joshua Tree tonight in their listening room. Truly amazing. A transformative event for me and my friends who joined. The sound in that room with that hifi setup was magical. I have my own hifi system at home, so my expectations were tempered coming in. But what a most amazing surprise. I was blown away. Heard that album like I’ve never experienced before. Looking forward to returning!
Amazing experience ❤️

Call me a believer! I was very skeptical, how cool could it be sitting in a room full of strangers listening to a record? It was amazing! I listened to the album countless times prior, but never experienced it like this! Will be back for sure!

went tonight to see what this place is about. enjoyed an hour of great music and great sound. very relaxing and perfect for music nerds, which i’m not, but i’m in 100%.
agree that eating and drinking before is probably a good idea.
Cool vibe to relax and soak up the sounds.

Our night would have been perfect if it weren't for one of the owners, Jerry, who lectured us (unknowingly) at length about how everything that just happened while we were in the listening room was against the rules. despite what our host had told us. We were told before the listening began that dancing was perfectly fine as long as it was done in the back against the walls that were out of the way, and we were told that singing, humming or moving along to the music was fine as long as we weren't bothering anyone. The people in our session only chattered when the record was being flipped (when our host was talking anyway), and a couple danced but I would have never known because it was happening behind us silently. However, Jerry told us that our session was full of complaints and that any noise or movement, especially dancing, was strictly forbidden despite what we had just heard. During his rant he frequently rattled off statistics about how many sessions there were this year and how many records they played, almost purely interested in statistics. I am a professional, gigging musician who has performed in every hall in WA, from the Pantages to Benaroya, even the WA state fair. Movement and humming along are natural when listening to good music, neither of which were even audible while the music was playing, and yet our crowd was admonished for it. My takeaway from this experience was not that this was a venue to appreciate art or to honor the tradition of Shibuya but instead a pretentious showboating for someone's ego. Don't tell anyone that vinyl is an objectively low-fidelity medium! The service was otherwise fantastic, the bartenders were terrific and our session's host was perfect. It was only the lengthy ramblings of a man-child that completely soured the night.

I got to listen to dark side of the moon here and it did not disappoint! Loved the atmosphere of the lounge outside and the vibe in the actual listening room. I would have liked to hear a little bit more about the stereo system and less about who made the furniture during the hosts, introduction.
