We had high expectations. With no one in the restaurant, our order was taken right away at the front counter. We paid $20 each plus $5 for the sweet tea. Waited over an hour, for over deep fried catfish, undercooked eggs and a cold small piece of cornbread. I felt I was robbed in plain daytime.

Went here today ordered chicken with 2 sides. Chicken had no flavor, fried too hard and tasted of old grease. The yams are out of the can and was soupy and mushy. The only thing decent was the macaroni. You get 7 gigantic hormone raised wineries with no flavor and taste like flour and old grease. The woman at the counter had terrible customer service . I was trying to ask questions about a few menu items and he attitude and delivery was less than hospitable. She stood over in the corner eating. Nah, im good on this one..oh and the chicken is precooked/pre-fried.

This is my first time ordering from this restaurant, and I definitely will be ordering again. The chicken dinner was perfect. I got the black-eyed-peas and greens. All were on point. I ordered the chicken and waffles for my daughter and she actually finished her dinner. Overall great meal!

Restaurantji Recommends
It was recommended that I go to this spot since I’m not from the area. The price for the amount of food was kinda crazy (the 6 oz salmon +2 sides and cornbread for $26). That’s not even why I’m giving it the two stars. I was in there for about 40/45 min waiting on the food. The salmon was wildly dry and salty to the point where it was not edible(I forsure threw it away), the “corn bread” was burnt and kinda hard. Mac n cheese was a 9.5/10(fire, if I ever came back it would be just for that) and the yams were just swimming in sugar - this is a personal preference -but it was just way too sweet for me.To have spent all that money and only have been able to eat the sides was disappointing.
Food was delicious, I definitely enjoyed the restaurant and the service

I've been a regular customer since they moved to 23rd & Jackson. Customer service has declined. I see the same people but they don't remember me, they don't know the way I want my food packed, I don't mind repeating every time I order but they don't always get it right even if I speak with the same people. They don't make an effort to get familiar with their regular customers, or maybe they do but not with me. The baked salmon has become much smaller and thinner, the rice in the rice & beans side wasn't fully cooked. I wait and wait and wait for my food without an update from the staff, when I'm the only one on the floor. What a shame.
