This Cambodian restaurant in Seattle offers a charming and intimate atmosphere. The owner personally oversees every detail, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment. The food is exquisite; I particularly enjoyed the grilled steak served with chimichurri sauce and crispy fries. The restaurant also plays traditional Cambodian music, adding an authentic touch, and the staff is incredibly kind and attentive. It’s truly a memorable dining experience.

I ate at Sophon several times the first year they opened. I thought the food was good and it was good value back then. I decided to give it another try after not visiting for a year or more. It came as a surprise to see that the ratings online had dropped to very average, but I decided to go anyway. Regrets. The place was packed on a Friday night and the staff was a little overwhelmed, so clearly they have many happy customers still. I found that the menu choices were greatly reduced from a year ago, and my favorite eggplant dish was no longer there. The food came quickly, the portions were tiny, and everything was like a 4 star spiciness - way too much. The trumpet mushrooms dish consisted of literally half a mushroom, sliced thin, and the tomato relish was way too spicy. The seasonal vegetables were overcooked and disappointing. The pork dish was too spicy, it came with raw vegetables and pickled raw cauliflower. The mocktails were good however. I wont be back anytime soon.

Search “Karuna Long restaurant controversy” on Instagram and you can see how the owner treats his employees, depriving them of wages and health insurances, etc. Now he reopens with new staff and without taking any responsibility, and I’d avoid at all cost.
Btw I did dine here once with a friend, liked the concept but not super impressed with the food.

Check their Instagram to see how poorly the staff here have been treated.

I'm very disappointed with their communication and how they prioritize their customers. My reservation was for today (Feb 13) and it was cancelled the same day without further explanation. Reservations here are very difficult to get for this restaurant, especially for a Friday night. Additionally, this was going to be our St Valentine's celebration. Now, we don't have plans to celebrate and making another reservation today is close to impossible. From what I saw in social media, it seems like they closed for a private event. What a way to treat their customers!!

Cancelled our reservations day of today 2/13 with less than 5 hours notice for “another service”. These were our Valentine’s Day plans. Absolutely will never go here now.

Poor service. Very slow with taking our order and bringing drinks, and for some reason managed to run out of their most popular cocktail at 7.30pm on a Saturday. The part of the restaurant we were in was also cold and fairly uncomfortable.

The food was average, but unmemorable, and didn’t do much to offset the poor service.

Amazing experience from start to finish! The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. There was nothing to complain about at all. Everything exceeded my expectations. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Seattle and truly deserving of the James Beard Award recognition. We will 100% be coming back again. Highly recommended!

I'm a vegan and there are many options for me which I appreciate. Sam, our server, was the best ever. If he is your server you will not be disappointed.

Wow. That’s how I felt after eating at Sophon! I think there are times you eat at a fancier restaurant and feel disappointed (“I could have eaten something cheaper and it would have been tastier”). That was NOT the case at Sophon. Everything was impeccable. Cute ambience, lovely service, and the food was insane. We started out with the tuna crudo, which was incredibly soft. It just melted in your mouth. And the veggies it came with were so crisp and flavorful. The papaya salad was delicious. Also crisp and full of flavor and fish sauce funk. The absolute star of the show, though, was the pork belly. I think maybe the best bite I’ve had in the last year. So soft and tender, and just packed full of flavor. The marinated egg was also cooked to perfection, and having the egg, pork, and some rice in one bite was amazing. It is a MUST try if you go here. We also got the steak frites, and the loc lac butter and dipping sauce were so unique and delicious. The fries were cooked to perfection as well. I have nothing but praise for this spot. Will be back, absolutely. Thanks for making my birthday special!!

The worst service I've had in Seattle. The server took 45 minutes to acknowledge our existence with no apology. He also forgot to bring us our drinks. The food was hit or miss (the fish was disgusting and unseasoned). This server must have been the owner's son because there is no way he got hired on merit.

Sadly, the only way to cancel reservation is over the phone. Since no one is working since Sunday till Tuesday left a message on Tuesday morning only to be charged $25 per person.
I would understand the charge for no show.
But if they cannot process cancellation, there are other restaurants which deserve patronage.
Very disappointed

The chicken and steak were cooked really well. The chicken was not over-cooked and the steak was a perfect medium rare.

The flavors were fairly interesting.

The dip for the fried chicken was creamy and slightly sweet.

The block of butter on top of the steak was sweet, like brown sugar. I wish it was just a touch more melted.

The fries were plain, similar to what you would get at dicks. I think the fries were the most dissapointing food item.

I just wanted a little more for the price point.
