Very surprised that's you're closed! The food was great especially the bento boxes. Really hope you're opening a new location?

Honestly so sad that you are closing. I got to try you for the first time this week with my coworkers and everything was so amazing! We got dumplings for appetizers and they were all so perfect. I got two cocktails which were so flavorful and then my main dish was the coconut beef (to die for). So sorry you are closing

Distinctive flavors, strong quality, and they close on 12/31 :(, so go now! Great server (and a standard service charge, no tip line).

It's a shame this place is closing in January. Great food. Good place for groups. Go before they close!!!!

I came in tonight for a happy hour with co-workers. We ordered several appetizers, dumplings, edamame, chicken wings, tofu, etc. It was really, really good. The wings had a quick burst of heat, but they were not obnoxious at all. They were super crispy and juicy. The edamame was wonderful. There were several vegetarians who really loved the tofu. Our server was on the spot the whole night. I will definitely be back next time I am in Seattle. We didn't even get to the main menu, the appetizers were so good we filled up on them.

Great spot for lunch and happy hour. Too bad it will be closing permanently on 1/17/2020. Last chance to visit

Had the pot stickers and a craft beer. Service was quick even though it was quite busy. Prices were normal for the area. Staff was friendly.

Five stars because the slushies are awesome, the food is thoughtful and delicious, and the bartender has always been a G. The dumplings rule. It's hard to read comments complaining about the automatic gratuity, but some people have a cold, loveless heart.

Nice venue. Private bathrooms on mezzanine level. Delicious food. Expensive drinks, that are slow to arrive.

Love the dumplings. Bento box good too. Been at lunch and dinner, and always happy with food and service.

We went here after going to an event. We walked in at 8:45 and were quickly seated. The bartender was nice and provided quick service We shared a dumpling platter, which was a nice late night snack. I loved the fried sweet potato dumplings.

Soba noodle soup with tofu was beautiful but too tiny for $15.

I only ever get one thing when I come to Tanakasan, the chicken katsu omelette. My friend ordered the curried chicken thigh bento. The chicken for the bento was a little dry and a bit burnt. I didn't particularly care much for it, which is why I only come here for the omelette. The chicken katsu omelette is like a katsu donburi covered with a layer of egg. The inside of the omelette is the rice topped with chicken katsu & dashi onions. It is enveloped by the sweet egg and then covered with sweet soy and bonito flakes. Everything works really well together. I would only eat it when dining in though because of the bonito flakes. Reheating the dish wouldn't taste nearly as good. This particular dish has a fairly good portion size, which is good given that it's a little pricy. But the price is to be expected given the location of the restaurant.

Odd menu choices with complicated ingredients that don’t quite work. Service was subpar and we didn’t get some of the items we ordered met with a shrug from our server. Won’t be wasting my time and money here in the future.

This was a neat little spot that my wife and I did not even know existed, though we are not usually in that area of town. We walked in not knowing exactly what it was, not even knowing it was a Tom Douglas restaurant until after the fact. We saw the menu on the board in front of the door and it looked good, we love dumplings and asian food. We were not looking for anything huge, so we decided to split the ‘dumpling party’ and it was actually a perfect amount of food. It would have been not been enough food had we both been a little more hungry. I forget all the flavors they had that night, but they were all good. I would go back to try more of their menu and see what new dumpling flavors they have. The dumplings change daily according to the waitress. The prices are a little high for what it is, but you are in the high rent district and it is Tom Douglas. The worst part of this place is the mandatory 20% service fee all Tom Douglas places charge, but it is what it is. As I said, I’d probably still go back.
