We have eaten at Terra Plata perhaps a couple dozen times over the years and it never disappoints. I can honestly say I've never had a dish i did not enjoy. The rooftop is a bonus, especially this time of year. Service is reliably excellent, particularly when we need to make a performance somewhere on Capitol . The place is a gem.
We've dined here several times in the past, and have always had a wonderful experience. This time seemed different. Although the service was as wonderful as always, something about the food was off. The dishes we have had before, seemed less flavorful and uninspiring. The lamb meatballs in particular were dry and bland. The broth for the mussel, was watery and “meh”. Maybe an off-night or maybe the back of the house has turned over. It will be a while before we go back.
Paella night at Terra Plata is OUTSTANDING!!!!! This is not in the restaurants' control but the yellowjackets/bees on the roof top were so bothersome last night. ( I am allergic--and should have requested inside. My bad.) Darn, that I let it negatively impact my otherwise fabulous evening out. As ALWAYS Kat is the BEST most skilled, gracious, and happy server!!! She just makes everything fun. The welcome stand gal is also TOP NOTCH!!! And, attention to food allergies is impeccable.
