I ordered a chocolate blackout cake for a birthday. Ordering was easy and I actually asked to switch my pickup date by a few days via email and they were able to accommodate which I was very thankful for. As a baker myself I rarely order cakes from other people but took a chance on this place and was not really satisfied. It looked nice, but if taste isn’t up to par the outside doesn’t really matter. The cake was not really moist and icing was not good- there just wasn’t anything outstanding about the cake. It’s like something I’d make out of my kitchen from a box mix or buy from a grocery for $25. I did wait for it to get to room temp which they are really adamant about. My boyfriend liked the cake at least but I wouldn’t order anything else from this place. Deep Sea Sugar is far far better cake and is the same price, just a bit far of a drive. I’ll order from there next time or make it myself.

I decided on their standard salted caramel cake for a birthday cake and I found the cake to be too sweet, both icing, filling and the cake itself. It's like eating sugar candy. The cake is very pretty and looks well made, but the taste is disappointing. This is my first time ordering cakes from Sweetside, and I guess their cakes live up to their name! Perhaps it's a general take for buttercream cakes, but they really need to tone down the sugar and the cake will be perfect. Perhaps they can do that just for their custom cakes, but try asking whether they can half the sugar for their standard cake selections. If super-sweet cakes is not your cup of tea, look elsewhere.

Not a bakery, a cake shop.A place to pre-order cakes a bakery does not make.A bakery is a shop that sells bread and other baked goods. Please change your business description.Your shop and cakes look amazing though.

We've ordered birthday cakes for the past few years from the Sweet Side. They're not only delicious, they're beautiful! Even family members who don't love sweets love these cakes. Follow their advice and leave the cake out for 5+ hours or overnight so the frosting is soft. Highly recommend!

My husband and I ordered our wedding cake and macarons from The SweetSide and it was all INCREDIBLE. The cake was absolutely delicious and a work of art. Our guests are still raving about the cake and the macarons. We cannot recommend The SweetSide enough!

Due to failed correspondence and our phone number being written down wrong. As customers we were set up for failure in picking up our cake for our wedding. When using this company please make sure you are regularly calling them and getting updates about your order or you may be set up for failure.Though the cake is beautiful and would have been a welcome addition to our wedding.

Ordered a tasting box for our wedding. Instead of picking frosting and cakes that you would be interested in they provide 8 selections that they pick for you. Half of our options were things we would never have even entertained or wasted the time on. The other half were ok but were so limited. After paying $45 (including tip) for the tasting, I requested from the owner if we could select flavors that we would actually want to taste. Their answer was no. Their recommendation was to drive to Totem Lake and buy some macarons to try the filling of the flavors we were interested in. Not sure how the bakery expects people to select their business for a wedding cake if they cant even let people try what flavors interest the customers. Who wants to order a very expensive cake for an extremely important event when the taste and quality is a mystery? Not me!

Amazing experience with the bakers around ordering birthday cakes. Everything was exactly as described on the website. Easy to order online. Great addition to Maple Leaf.

Beautiful fanciful cakes and they taste soooo good! We had the Carrot Cake inside a mermaid tail and it was one of the moistest carrot cakes ever. So worth it. Thanks!

Our wedding dessert was provided by SweetSide. The dessert bar was shipped to the venue and set up using rental equipment. The day of, it looked beautiful, and the sweets were delicious. I'd rate the cake pops a perfect 10 out of 10! The macaroons were my husband's favorite. The dessert spread looked amazing, and everyone loved it.

Sent in order all the way from Texas and mistakenly entered the wrong date. They quickly responded to my request for the change. Pickup took less than 2 minutes. Cake was a bit dense but frosting wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, just right. Decent sized cake/portions for the price.

We were referred to The Sweet Side by our wedding planners. We spent $996 (which included a $125 refundable deposit) on dessert for a small wedding with 30 guests. Leading up to the wedding Mindy was very difficult to communicate with and she repeatedly sent us emails asking for information that had been provided previously (e.g., day of contact, vendor access to venue, etc.). There was also a miscommunication a month before our wedding that resulted in a surprise $110 delivery charge, $55 rental fee, and $125 refundable deposit requirement. If you asked The Sweet Side team, they would say that our planners did not tell them that they needed delivery or rentals in advance of our initial invoice. If you asked our wedding planners they would say that conversations were had months prior with The Sweet Side team and that delivery and rentals were supposed to be complimentary. For what it’s worth, delivery and rentals were included in the initial invoice with a $0 line item. When we asked The Sweet Side to honor their initial invoice and waive the delivery/rental fees, they refused. Since I was not involved in those conversations I can’t say whose version of the miscommunication is more correct, but after experiencing first hand how difficult Mindy is to communicate with I tend to believe our wedding planners. Since it was only a month before our wedding we opted to pay the extra fees rather than try to find a new dessert vendor.Fortunately, the desserts the day of were a much better experience. The desserts were delivered on time and were a big hit. We ordered the predesigned magnolia cake, 8” round, with carrot cake and cream cheese on the inside and buttercream frosting on the outside ($181). It was DELICIOUS and just the right size for our small wedding. We also ordered the “sweet bites bar package” ($525) with French macarons, brownies, and cheesecake shooters. The package is advertised as intended for 50 guests but it was just the right size for our 30 guests. The macarons were especially delicious and several guests commented that they were the best macarons they had ever eaten.

I told my family that all I wanted for my birthday was a beautiful and delicious cake. They heard SweetSide was a great cake bakery so they ordered from them. The cake was gorgeous but tasted bad. It was dry and flavorless. The frosting tasted like shortening and sugar. Everyone was disappointed and surprised such a pretty cake could be so bad. $160.00 for a cake that got thrown in the trash.
