Hakata is genuinely the worst sushi i've ever had. I ordered real sushi, not fried and baked garbage. The tuna was grey and unfresh, but also looked like it was rolled by a 2 year old. The only thing worse than the food was the service. I would give zero stars if I could.

Enjoyable experience. Not too loud and the service was prompt. Plus of course great food (get the King Kong roll, avoid the grilled squid as it's not very interesting).

We went out to this place for the first time, really REALLY good sushi! I definitely recommend it. In the beginning our service was a little slow but other than that this place is cute and very nice for a night out.

What happened to the quality of food and service? This is not the same Hakata since new ownership has occurred. Very disappointing!

I took my husband there for his birthday. Had a party of 13. We were seated right away because I had make reservations. Took forever for someone to come over to take our drink order. Orders were placed and food starting coming out fairly quickly. While others at our table were waiting for their food. 4 of us ordered (beef) yakisoba. One ordered (chicken) yakisoba. the beef came out in a timely manner. The chicken did not come out till all the rest of us were finishing our meal. We watched people come in to be seated, and ordered their food and it came out before ours. Although the food was good. I don't like the way they have the food set up to come out. Taking over 40 min for everyone at our table to get their meal in unexcusable.

We ordered takeout from Hakata in Silverdale tonight. Our order included a tempura appetizer, a large Kobachi, two Ichiro Rolls, a Spicy Tuna #2, a California Roll, and a Spicy Salmon #2. The Kobachi, which is usually plenty for my family of five to share, was much smaller this time compared to what we have received in the past. When I called to address this issue, I was told that I could ask for more next time and they would provide it. The Ichiro Roll, a family favorite that we have been ordering for years, was missing the mayo sauce that is typically in the center of the roll. The Spicy Tuna #2 lacked the expected spice, as it usually has mayo, garlic, and a bit of spice, but this time it was lacking in flavor. Although I have never tried the Spicy Salmon #2 before, it seemed to lack any spice or additional flavors aside from the salmon itself. The total cost of the order was $75.35. It was disappointing to spend that much on food that was mediocre at best. Hakata has always been my go-to sushi spot, and it has been good since the new owners took over. However, tonight's experience has left me questioning whether I will continue to frequent this place.

Hakata is where my husband and I go on our date nights. We've been going for the past 16 years. The food has always been amazing it reminds me of when I lived in Japan for a short time when I was little but with the change over in management, the atmosphere and service have gone a bit downhill, in my opinion. I miss the Japanese music that would play in the background it really added to the experience. I also miss when the owner would come out and check in with guests at the table's and make sure everyone had everything they needed. She was the sweetest ❤️.Prices are great. I recommend the Tempura appetizer and Katsudon for dinner ?

Best sushi I've found in KitsapExceptional service, fast and friendlySnow mountain roll is an explosion of flavors (if a little messy to eat)Most of their rolls are greatTheir towers look impressive but less bang for your buckThe lobster dynamite is delicious- I recommend a spoon as it has a very saucy (bordering on soupy) consistency

Delicious! I had the Ichiro Roll and the spicy scallop roll. So fresh and delicious. The sushi rice wasn't too sweet, thank goodness. Quiet and soothing atmosphere, you can't go wrong here.

I used to come here weekly with the prior ownership and have not been back since the change. I’m happy to say the sushi is very good on par with sushi I’ve had in Japan. I ordered Nigiri and took the risk with the Toro (Fatty Tuna) it melted like butter as expected and the sushi rice was very good. The other menu items were mid grade nothing to be upset about but not great (typical Americanized Japanese dishes). So I recommend their sushi if you come here. The service is good as possible but it seemed like they only had one worker for front of house during lunchtime on Sunday. He was very busy but he tried his best to be polite and serve everyone he was deserving of the good tip. I give extra time for workers that have to hustle from lack of help. The location suffers from its recent negative reviews and I’m assuming financial trouble. The floor and tables were dirty walking in and it was noticeable to me the ratio of sushi rice to fish was off (cost saving measure).I will come back in the future for the sushi and I hope they can figure out their staffing and cleanliness. I think they have the opportunity to once again be the best Japanese spot in Kitsap. JOA is straight up not even in the same league as Hakata.

If the menu prices on the website dont reflect the prices of the menu placed in front of you when you sit down not only is that wasting people's time but it's called SCAMMING.Additionally, aside from that major point, it shouldn't take me 5 minutes to be seated and then an additional ten minutes for somebody to even greet me after i've sat down. This gave me enough time to contemplate the service I was receiving in combination with the discrepancies in price between the website and the physical menu. Since we hadn't been greeted a server yet,we decided to walk out. They didn't bring us anything...but yeah we're not going to play that stupid little game, especially when you aren't even that busy.

Hakata used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the world until they decided to follow the “downsizing trend”. I’m confused about the logic behind skimping on rice. Rice is probably the cheapest & most accessible food on the market, it doesn’t make sense to downsize on rice. The nigiri contain almost no rice now. The sushi lunch has gotten noticeably smaller, the entrees are in smaller containers which contain less rice, (similar amount of meat though). You gain maybe 1 cent per meal on the amount of rice you decide to exclude, but you lose $30 a week that I would be spending, instead I decide to take my money somewhere where I get a decent amount of rice.
