I grew up in Hawaii and I miss the food all the time. Saw a social media post about this place and drove from Tacoma to try it out. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The Mochiko chicken is amazing. Tastes just like home but less salty lol . They even threw in a few extra pieces on my partners plate so I wouldn’t have to share mine! The Mac salad is different, maybe more peppery, but it was delicious! I was stoked to get that last two pork hash available because that’s what I was looking forward to the most. So so good.
Will definitely be back for the saimin, as there is no one is the area who has it. I begged them gently to open a place in Tacoma (please please please!)
Reheated the leftovers up the next day and it was still good!

Their food is so delicious, I come in after work sometimes and grab a bite🥰
No seating because it's in a gas station, and I recommend ordering ahead of you don't have time to wait, but the food is amazing. Everything you want from good Hawaiian food.

The chicken katsu was awesome, highly recommend it. Test out the katsu sauce first before you dump it on everything it's good but has a unique taste a little more vinegar than I was used to. The Mac salad is on point. The musubi was also delicious I only had the egg and spam one, the others looked very good also. It's in a gas station with no seating inside.

Winnahs, nuff sed! 😅
Had the meat jun and it's been so long since I've had some. Mom had the mochiko chicken, everything was amazing and I wish I knew about this place sooner. Just a little taste of home, highly recommend!

This is the absolute island food this side of the Pacific! Great people who own and run this kitchen are super friendly and chill. It can’t be overstated how good the food is! And just try the Kahuna Quesadilla, it’s addictive!

Food was great, it feels kind of expensive for a place operating out of a gas station though

This place serves amazing take out food. I always prefer to eat food at the establishment, because it doesn't get destroyed by all the things that happen during delivery. Well, I've finally found a take out place that somehow overcomes the issues related to delivery. I'm not sure if it's the cuisine, or perhaps the extra care they take when packing the orders, maybe a bit of both.
This food is mouth watering good. I have tried many of the menu items and not a single item has disappointed me. The only time I was ever disappointed was when they were sold out of a Special item i really wanted to try!
There's a great variety, something for everyone and something for every mood. This is the very definition comfort food. Feeling down or stressed and need to eat your feelings? Order a plate lunch from Unko's and you'll feel right as rain. Having a wonderful day and want to keep feeling great? Order some pupus from Unko's and you'll be dancing the rest of the day.
Every time i order from here, I keep telling myself I need to visit Hawaii and the pacific islands. Don't let the gas station fool you, this food is top notch, and it actually works out well for me, since it's the one time I would rather just eat at home. 1) Because I don't want to eat in a convenience store and 2) I tend to order A LOT of food from Unko's and I don't want anyone judging me!
The prices are very reasonable, especially if you keep an eye out for the special sale items on apps like Doordash. You can get a huge plate lunch for under 20 bucks and if you want to save on fees, go and puck it up instead! I haven't picked up yet, but I bet he's very friendly.
Since moving to Washington, I have fallen in love with Pacific islander food and I've seen too many establishments come and go in just the last 9 years or so. I also have seen a lot of different shops occupy that little spot in the gas station. I'm really hoping Unko's sticks around for the long haul and perhaps transition to a full eat in place. So please! Be sure to order from them today! You won't be sorry.
