Absolutely wonderful food, it made me feel like I was at home without the cooking/cleaning. They were so beyond kind to me and my baby, and as long as I’m around they’ll have my business! 🫶🏻

Small establishment but BIG flavor!
Limited seating but the food was excellent.
I had a 3-meat platter. Brisket (Medium sauce on the side), chicken breast, and a hot link. Sides were collared greens and baked beans.
Brisket was cubed up in pieces and had no extra fat. Smoke flavor of the meat was great and the meat was tender.
Smoke flavor on chicken was also fantastic and meat could be taken off the bone with your fingers.
Sauce on the side is recommended. Ate most of the meats without any sauce.
I prefer my collared greens a like spicier, but these were still good.
Owner was in and enjoying the customers.

The people here are incredibly friendly and kind and the food was fantastic. I grew up in hilltop but somehow never ended up here and I’m sad to have missed out for so long but so happy to have found this place for my future bbq needs. They are a fantastic piece of hilltop culture

My favorite dish: greens with meat. The cornbread is a traditional corn meal muffin and not cake. So, your palate can enjoy one of many classic and southern dessert options. Also, I enjoy the smoked meats they offer, especially the chicken.

There's gotta be better BBQ places to eat in Tacoma. When I went they were outta half their menu and the food we could order was extremely disappointing.

This is a great, neighborhood bbq restaurant; a third generation history. The food is prepared with a Texas bbq influence; recommend ordering the sauce on the side to enjoy the range of taste. We had pulled pork and chicken with greens, cole slaw, and baked beans for sides. Left with enough for another meal. You will arrive welcomed and depart blessed.

Love to support small businesses so this will be me helping. Ordered a quick bobs snack pack and I felt totally ripped off once I saw what I got, 1 slice of bread chips and a soda with 3 ribs with barely any meat. Spent $10 with a tip. Could’ve gotten more meat off one cheeseburger.
Brisket was dry and overcooked
Mac and cheese was cold and runny
I did like the slaw though!

Omg the flavor was insane my fiancee and I ordered the meat sampler and thoroughly enjoyed it the only thing better than the food was the service out standing!!!
Good simple bbq done perfectly! Everything was exactly what I hope for in a BBQ joint but never quite found elsewhere in Western Washington.
Even though everything i had stood out as superb (baked beans, collard greens, cornbread, sweet tea, chicken, hot links and ribs - i was hungry) a few things stood out even further somehow... the collard greens and sweet tea.
I got one of each of their desserts to go, and I'm really happy I did. I'm not a huge sweets person, but that's most certainly because I don't often find sweets as good as their pound cake or their sweet potato pie.
Everyone here was very nice as well. I look forward to coming back when I'm in the area and ordering racks and pies to pickup for special occasions, despite them being very much out of my way.

As a certified BBQ judge, I take my barbecue seriously—and I always focus on how well the meat is cooked. While seasoning preferences vary across regions, properly cooked meat is a universal standard.
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and (I believe) his mother—both incredibly kind and welcoming. Their hospitality alone makes this place worth visiting.
I ordered the two-meat plate: ribs and brisket. The ribs, which the owner proudly recommended, were excellent. They had a perfect tender pull without falling off the bone—just how properly cooked ribs should be. The flavor was solid, though I would have preferred to try them without the sauce, which was poured over the top.
The brisket, unfortunately, was a bit tough. The flavor was decent, but the texture missed the mark, especially since brisket is a personal favorite of mine.
Overall, the ribs were a standout, and the warm, family-run vibe made the experience memorable. I’ll definitely be back—if not just for the ribs, then for the people.
