Our recent visit totacoma included a dining experience at Cactus, a swcond location to the one in Seattle,a Latin fusion establishment. While the restaurant presents a Mexican aesthetic, its culinary offerings lean towards a Latin fusion cFor those seeking traditional Mexican cuisine, this may not be the ideal choice. However, for individuals in search of a flavorful dining experience with a pleasant atmosphere and attentive service, Cactus is highly recommended. During our visit, I selected the Seattle chimichanga with smoked brisket, which offered a complex and enjoyable flavor profile. My son opted for the flautas, which he also found to be excellent. For dessert, we shared the flan and bananas dulces. Although I was unable to partake in the sweet bananas due to a cinnamon allergy, my son reported they were exceptional. It is worth noting that Kurt Cobain reportedly had his final meal at this establishment, including the sweet bananas for dessert.

At the Tacoma location, we had the flautas again. I had the Burrita Lenera with flank steak; it was spicy enough to give it a great flavor. I will recommend it with the smoked brisket, and my son had the shrimp and grits. He said that it is his new favorite dish.

For an appetizer, we got the Guac sampler, and it didn't disappoint, but the chips and salsa are great too.

The flan was enjoyable, though I personally prefer my own recipe; I still highly recommend it. We had this dessert in both locations; it's that good.

The cost, including beverages, was approximately $30+ per person, which is considered reasonable.

In summary, while the restaurant's Mexican-inspired dishes receive a rating of 5 out of 10, its Latin fusion offerings are rated a 9 out of 10, making it a worthwhile dining destination.
And, like I like to say, bring some to the experience because everything is better when you share it.!

Staff was so attentive and super friendly. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the carne asada, both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. I gotta admit I was licking my fingers after every bite of the fish tacos. The mezcal old fashioned was by far the highlight our lunch! We had to have more than one! We will definitely be back again. :)

I ordered Quesabirria Tacos and the tacos were dripping in lots of oil and it was disgusting! I should have had them take it back. It was my first and will be my last time. An hour after I had the worst upset stomach.

Food was good, Margarita even better, but what’s a Mexican place that doesn’t give out free chips and salsa

Had a really nice lunch on Sunday. I ordered a seasonal item (chorizo tetelas) and it was delicious. I’d definitely order it again if it’s still on the menu. I love the hibiscus mocktail. Chips were nice and warm, salsa had just the right amount of heat. Waitstaff was friendly and prompt!

Last minute cravings always cured with Cactus 🌵 food. Couldn't figure out what I wanted, knew I was super hungry... Annoyed, and driving home with options slowly running out the closer I get to home... It was about 9:10pm they close at 10pm. Threw in an online pickup order quickly using the Uber eats app on Sprague coming from rt16.... By the time I got to their restaurant, parked, and used their restroom quickly my nachos were done!! Always on point, and love reheating their nachos the following day in the oven.... Taste is still perfect and throw in some extra chips and now you have enough for 2 even 🫶🏼 love Cactus!!!! ❤️

we are frequent diners at this restaurant and have generally enjoyed good service and food. However, our recent experience will not having us return. Hostess who greeted us was inattentive gave us the impression we were an interruption to her day. There was absolutely no warmth or friendly greeting. Our table server was equally disdainful of us. Her attitude was certainly not friendly or inviting. The harder we tried to be accommodating to her condescending behavior, the more disingenuous she became. The only thoughtful person the entire experience was the young man who actually served the food to our table. Service staff need customer service training if Cactus is going to develop loyal guest retention. A very sad experience.
