Amazing as always.
we are frequent diners at this restaurant and have generally enjoyed good service and food. However, our recent experience will not having us return. Hostess who greeted us was inattentive gave us the impression we were an interruption to her day. There was absolutely no warmth or friendly greeting. Our table server was equally disdainful of us. Her attitude was certainly not friendly or inviting. The harder we tried to be accommodating to her condescending behavior, the more disingenuous she became. The only thoughtful person the entire experience was the young man who actually served the food to our table. Service staff need customer service training if Cactus is going to develop loyal guest retention. A very sad experience.

We had an amazing dinner at Cactus. Everything was wonderful from the moment we sat down and were greeted by our server, Mark. The food was some of the best I’ve ever had and the drinks were the terrific. We will be back!

First time guest. Food was excellent, flavorful, not afraid of making it spicy. Wait staff friendly and checked back on us several times. The Hatch Chile soup was superb!

When I checked in before 5pm and asked if I could order from Happy Hour menu the very friendly hostess at the front desk suggested I could go probably back and order in the bar. I had my grandson with me so we couldn’t sit there.
But when I got back to bar I was told I wouldn’t be able to order there for a table not in the bar. They had the manager come out and talk to me. Not a cheerful person, she said if they offered happy hour prices to the whole restaurant she’d have to hire more staff.
Next when ordering drinks at my table in the family part of the restaurant, I noted to the waitress that two of us would be getting the kids meals that included the lemonade options and we wanted one regular lemonade and one strawberry lemonade. Two grandsons under 12 were part of my party, along with myself and my daughter in law.
I wanted a favorite item from the kids menu and one of my grandsons did too. But the second grandson ordered an adult meal, as did his Mom. He also ordered a drink from the regular menu. When I got the bill, there were charges for the two lemonade drinks (totalling $11) that I thought should have been included with the two kid meals. But no, I couldn’t switch with my one grandson who got an adult menu drink, the waitress told me, since I drank the kids menu strawberry lemonade and I’m an adult she’d have to charge me $6, but she’d credit $5 for the lemonade my younger grandson drank that shouldn’t have been charged. She told me she shouldn’t even have let me order a kids meal that I was going to eat, she could potentially get in trouble with the manager.
I was so dismayed by this experience that I’m probably not going to go to Cactus again, and it’s been a family favorite in the past, with several visits a year typically. I spent over $118 to end up feeling like my business wasn’t welcome.

The Ultima margarita is my favorite margarita on the planet and the Butternut Squash enchiladas are divine. The mole is sooooo good. Love this spot and have been ordering the same thing from Cactus for over ten years starting at their Alki location. So glad they came to Tacoma!

Few choices for entrees I enjoy. I did finally order the carnitas taco. Cilantro in nearly every recipe made my selection very limited.

We ate at the Cactus Restaurant in Proctor on a very busy art festival Saturday. We had about a 15 min. wait. Our waitress was outstanding! We had questions about the menu and she had answers and a few suggestions. The food was so good and tasted very fresh. Chips and salsa, guacamole with bacon and roasted poblano, we shared the brisket burrito and that was a good idea because of how much food we had ordered! My beer came in a cute glass. We even got a free dessert of flan as it was our first time to dine at Cactus. We will be back!
