Some of the best wings and people I've had in all of Tacoma. I gave a 3 stars for atmosphere because it's a dive bar type of place. Nothing wrong with that but not my cup of tea, just being honest.

Flying boots is very much so the typical dive bar. The drinks are reasonably priced, the clientele are all friendly, and the bartenders (while very busy at some points) are friendly.
I recommend they're jalapeno poppers and the cheese logs as all of those are made scratch in house.

This time I actually did have a PT appointment plus another needed stop at the fairgrounds. So, after another torture session I wanted breakfast. This time was the Flying Boots Cafe.
The building and sign are very old, dating back to a time when cocktail lounges had names related to the name of the restaurant. The sign advertises The Spur Room.
While older, it was very clean inside. There were tables or booths on either side of the L shaped bar.
We were greeted as we walked through the door and told to pick a table. It was pretty dark inside so we picked a table. The bartender was also our server. She was quite friendly and efficient. She seemed to know all of the patrons and took care of them and us too.
After going over the menu I decided on the BAS, which is Bacon, Avocado and Swiss cheese omelette with Hollandaise sauce and sourdough toast. Ray ordered the Boot Buster with an English muffin. The only choice of potatoes was hash browns so that is what we ordered.
I noticed on the special menu if you ordered breakfast before noon, you could request a complimentary pancake to add to your breakfast. I was feeling like a pancake so I took advantage of the offer.
Breakfast came up pretty quickly. The pancake was delivered first by about a minute. I could tell it was light and fluffy, not a “syrup soaker” as Ray calls them. I ate part of it and took the rest home for my Amazon parrot who loves pancakes.
My BAS had fresh avocado slices over the top as well as inside. The hollandaise sauce was homemade and very good. The hash browns appeared to be homemade and not frozen out of the bag. They were very good.
Ray’s Boot buster was loaded with meat. It was huge. He liked his hash browns too!!
The only blight to our breakfast was the woman who came in and was so incoherent I could not understand what she wanted. Our server was at our table so fast I never saw how she got there. She handled the person quite professionally, and with compassion as she asked how she could help her, and if she did not want anything, she needed to leave. She did not want food, as near as I could tell.
I loved the handles on the bathroom sink fixture. Hence the picture. This is not the first bathroom picture I have taken. I love some of the new decor.
According to other reviews, this place has great chicken wings. I can’t wait to come back and check them out.

I think the burgers are some of the best bar/pub burgers around. They are using REAL fresh meat and quality ingredients and they will cook to your liking. The atmosphere is pretty laid back, karaoke at night and staff has been pretty nice. I don’t drink but I enjoy the food!

I am always looking for friendly low key spots for Karaoke. The first time here I had a great time. I decided to try a different place Spud's. Bad mistake! Horrible experience! So I left spuds and went back to Flying Boots and Wings where they welcomed me with open arms and I finished the night. This is now my favorite Tacoma Karaoke spot! Thank you to the staff and KJ! I will be back

The best wings ever!!!! There's a few medalist dart boards. I think they have karaoke every night. Cool spot. Again the wings!!! They're huge and can't beat the price. Try the sticky fingers flavor! All of the food is amazing.
Good breakfast for a dive bar. The cook brought it to our table and seemed happy to do so. Inexpensive and we got a free pancake (because it was before noon?). If you're looking for elegance, this ain't it. Just a funky little neighborhood bar with a great sign. Coffee could be better. Tasted like Hill Bros.

I usually come here all the time with no problem when ordering my food. However today was a server that i did not mkk no one. Order and paid for some specific type of wings. The waiter placed my order and everything then she. Someone asked for the same type of wings as me he said they were out. I get my order of wings and they a in a sauce that I did kit request. The bartender/waitress argued that he told me they were out which he did not and that I requested the sauce that are on Thames’s wings that do not no longer won’t. I ask for a refund and to call the manager and the manager refused to give me a refund. Stating that the bartenders have no way to give a refund and I have to come back tomorrow to “try” to get a refund. Poor service and unappreciative to Patton’s of the bar.
Mediocre afforable drinks, good atmosphere, what you expect in a dive
