There are not a lot of sushi restaurants in Tacoma, and of those I know of, they tend to think they're in Seattle and it's okay to charge $20 a roll, or competing with gas stations to make you nervous, this place is the exception. It's affordable, not pretentious, cute interior with pretty solid sushi, (I stick with the veggie options but my friends have all enjoyed the fish, so second hand account on the actual sushi)If you live in the area and want sushi, I definitely recommend it, for whatever that's worth :)P.S. I'm grading this a bit on a curve due to the other options I've had, but it's a review so definitely biased in some way or another.

If you are looking for Japanese sushi this is the place to go. Nothing wrong with other locations necessarly but Kazu is a sushi chef from Japan and learned the art of sushi in Japan. Be patient it is a family owned resturant and if it gets busy it may take a extra min to get your food. Definitely worth the wait. Very inviting interior.

Had a great experience and will be returning. Had the salmon sashimi with cilantro and jalapeno, miso soup, and spicy rainbow roll. My partner had the opie (spelling?) roll and a veggie rolls. 5/5 on the food, and we ordered the perfect amount. Service was good, and the place feels authentic versus a hyped-up high-end fushion-gentrified sushi option (we are glad we came here instead of going to a gentrified establishment downtown). The dining room was full, but, since there were only four tables they were all spaced well apart, so we felt like we had plenty of space and privacy.Vegetarian options: Plenty of interesting veggie rolls if fish isn't your thing.

This is such a hole in the wall gem! They have delicious sushi here! I have never been disappointed with their food or service. Highly recommend this diamond in the rough!

I was trying to go to this affordable place because someone recommended it to me and not A MINUTE when I got in there they said that the sushi would take an hour because there is a lot of people. ummmm wait one minute why does it take AN HOUR for sushi (keep in mind I'm black) and to really DRIVE THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN there was one family and SIX other chairs available which was the whole restaurant in a nutshell why would you play us like that (also keep in mind EVERYONE THERE even the workers was WHITE) now it feels like I'm being persecuted because I'm BLACK. Not only that she said that we could get meals that are not fish or sushi but 95% of the menu is FISH AND SUSHI. I will most definitely be NOT COMING BACK you racist workers and people I hope you die in fiery HELL. I WILL BE GOING TO TRAPPERS FROM NOW ON. Trappers may be expensive but at least the workers are not RACIST and they don't have ungodly 5 hours. Black people if you don't want to be emotionally persecuted DO NOT COME HERE! ZERO STARS

this is not the best sushi but it will curb my craving for high quality sushi. i'd be more than happy to go here for sushi (close to me) and leave with a happy belly while i wait for higher quality sushi. i definitely understand there are only certain places that have high quality sushi so this place is my day to day go to sushi place in town. the owners are the cutest older couple and most of the staff speak japanese and have heavy accents... so i know they know their sushi! the restaurant is interesting right now i think they are figuring out what to do after covid still and half opened up their tables. it is moderately noisy inside but you can have your own conversations amongst your tables. definitely would recommend for a moderate level sushi quality and good pricing. let's be real it's hard to afford to eat high quality sushi as that is quite expensive.

For the price I think you get better sushi elsewhere. Salmon quality is pretty good but other than that I'm not so sure. Service is alright, they weren't mean but definitely weren't friendly either. The interior looks abit better than exterior.
