Before you decide just realize the food was too good to even take pictures. It looks amazing but tastes even better. If you haven’t tried this gem then you are missing out. Opal lounge as an amazing happy hour from 2-5 daily with many options all for only $7. Drinks are very reasonable. My favorite is the Paper Plane. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.friendly staff. Cleanest place I’ve ever been too!
Did a call in order, meat sweats, food was good, all dif kinds of meats. Only issue we had as it says it feeds 4-5, more like 2-3. You get 4 sides and they each come in a tiny cup, so each person gets a bite or two of the side. Staff was friendly, place was empty but seems like a good atmosphere.
What is Wrong with That Bartender/Server????
Please tell me the days she Doesn't Work so I can Come enjoy the food there.
I love this place it is a local gem! Amazing brisket, delicious cocktails, and one of the best Cubanos. The service is always excellent, I highly recommend Opal Lounge, for a night out!
Potato skins were fantastic. Whatever seasoning was on the skin was great.
We shared the three meat platter. Ribs were great. Pulled chicken and pulled pork were just so so. No flavor. No side sauces to dip in. The sides (Mac & potato salad) were alright. Cornbread was good.
There was definitely a waitstaff shortage so we were waiting for a while.
Cute spot, good vibes.
A fantastic place on South Tacoma Way. We saw an article about them in the News Tribune and decided to check them out. They did a great job renovating it. Very comfortable seating area. There was only one waitperson and they were also the bartender. They were stretched, but did a great job of covering all the tables. They have a really good happy hour. I had the pulled chicken and Cole slaw with cornbread. The sauce is sweet and tangy with the right amount of heat. Can't wait to try them again.
Great food and atmosphere. Cuban sandwich was awesome.
We love this place, great drinks, great food, FAMILY FRIENDLY! Try the pickled egg, meat, collard greens. Besides the atmosphere and food, importantly they have one of the best urinals in Tacoma!
The opal is a perfect blend between a bar and restaurant. Great food, better drinks, a playlist to die for and friendly staff. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by and enjoy the ambiance.
Did I say anything about bourbon yet? They have a whiskey list a mile long and even better happy hour specials. Do yourself a favor and try out the opal. It’s THAT good.
Nice stop for a burger

Absolutely awful experience. There were only two servers working, and with just 3-4 groups of people in the entire place, you’d think they could manage basic service—but no.
We sat for over 20 minutes without anyone bothering to take our order. One server eventually came by to give us menus and ask about drinks, but the water never even arrived. After sitting there completely ignored, we decided to leave without eating. The servers didn’t even notice or care. It was a shockingly unprofessional and frustrating experience. Avoid this place!
Went in for lunch today with my dad and split a 3 meat platter. The bartender (maybe the owner?) Was very friendly and helpful, and the food was DELICIOUS. My favorite was the sausage with the green Serrano sauce. The baked beans were also in a league of their own. Will definitely be back after I devour this extra half pound of sausage i brought home!
Heard of this place from reviews and thought we'd give it a try. Service was meh. Brisket was dry and the ribs were doused in a bbq sauce that had way to much chipotle seasoning in it. We were not a fan of this BBQ place.
Food is always good, great whiskey and bourbon selection. One of my favorite spots.

I was looking forward to trying the Opal. Ordered the 1/3 rack of BBQ Pork Ribs with 2 sides and cornbread. The BBQ beans were very good- a little sweet, sour and followed by some heat. The greens were "okay". The four baby back ribs were dried out and not edible. Even adding their BBQ sauce couldn't save the meat. Burnt ends, I don't mind. But these were beyond a little charr! ? I'm not sure they were actually heated before packed. They forgot the cornbread ?. Be sure to check your take out order before you leave!
