Everything was really good but the catfish was oh so yummy.Salt sensitive? Ask to reduce the amount. Food on the saltier side.Greens - not from a can! I asked. They were offended. Good sign.

Sad to say we didn’t get to try this spot. We showed up at 6:10, and the open signs were all off. My partner went inside to see, since their door and website said they were open until seven. My partner was informed that they stop taking orders one hour before they close. We then watched the owner close the main gate to the building and lock up 45 minutes before their listed closing. We have tried to go to this place - few times before but they always seem to be closed, I guess now we know why.

First time at Uncle Thurms today and LET????ME??TELL??YOU the food is AMAZING !! My first thought walking in the door is that it smelled just like my great aunts house on Sunday and I knew the food was going to be on point ?? .. Now not only is the food amazing but the hospitality is wonderful too I felt like I went to my uncle's house !! My husband is from the Georgia and swears everyone cooking is from the south ? and I even got my 5 year old to eat fish today because of the Bomb catfish that was made .. Thank you Uncle Thurm we will be back for more of the the good food huge portions !!!!

Okay let me say this;I just left Georgia from seeing my daughter and drove down to Macon to get some catfish and collard greens and macaroni. One of the reasons why I did that is because I can never find a good soulful restaurant in Washington State "real soul food"I think I may have found it now I've only had the fish so far,let me just say this. I mite be good with with having a southern spot in Washington state now. ?????????

The greens are the best I've ever had and the Mac n cheese was perfect. Ribs were great. I only wish they served beef.

Found this amazing restaurant by chance after a navigation error. Only knew of one other Tacoma soul food restaurant, decided to try it.Take out only. We were delighted at the Cajun & Creole dishes, ordered and sat down to wait. Uncle Thurm's obviously has live music when possible. The decor has a sweet vintage feel, with photos of performers, some on the same small stage we were looking at.Glad to see how busy they were. Worth the wait for delicious, authentic food and knowing they're here to stay.I'm from down south and I have to say that my review is inspired and informed by the emotional experience it was to spend 20 minutes there, plus the half hour we spent savoring chitlins, ribs, chicken and catfish, made like it was back home. In particular, the greens are exactly like I remember and they don't skimp on the pot liquor.

Long wait time but it was the middle of lunch on a Wednesday so i definitely can't hold it against them, Even a little cold it was still superb! got the soul food medley and 100% satisfied. The greens weren't too salty and wet. The catfish nuggets were amazing and the ribs were falling apart in that good way :D only gripe if i could even have any was the Kool-Aid, really really bland but when you are serving all types i can understand wanting to play it safe with the sugar. Will be coming back when it isn't so busy. If the food was this good warm I shudder to think how great it will be hot and fresh!

Ok, so I don't normally post reviews but for this one, I will. I am from originally from NC and ended up in WA because of the military. I have to say that this place, the food, takes me back home. It brings memories of my grandma. She would start the day before, making Sunday dinners. She would get up super early, go to the earliest church service and come back to finish dinner. Everyone that was hungry just knew that they could get a good home cooked meal at Mrs. Betty Strickland's. I remember it being standing room only. Boy!! She could cook!! She also knew how to bring people together and I want to say thank you for the delicious food and good memories.I would definitely recommend this place, hands down!!

Took a minute to get some service because we got there right when they opened. Glad we waited tho because we just had sides and dessert and it was as delicious as I've had around the south sound. Will be back for some more soul food delish.
