I recently dined here, however, I encountered an unusual situation where I was compelled to leave a tip. Typically, I do not leave tips at this establishment, and it has never been an issue. On this occasion, a tall Asian gentleman with glasses and shoulder-length hair informed me that tipping was mandatory. I have been bemoaning the sad state of Chinese Food in Vancouver for years. Being a well traveled snob I have eaten good Chinese food, I have walked into the hills of Hong Kong and feasted on five course meals that left my head spinning and my stomach full. I’ve eaten food at street markets that was not only amazing, but welcoming and down to earth.

So I had more or less given up on Vancouver where most of the citizens wouldn’t know good Chinese if it came...
We feel very lucky to have an authentic Chinese food restaurant down the street from where we live. We really appreciate their goal to keep their dishes more authentic, instead of trying to cater to Western palates as a few other Asian style restaurants in the area commonly do. We had a few vegetable dishes, dan-dan noodles, and mapo tofu dish. Everything was excellent but we do wish they added slightly more numbing Sichuan pepper corns to the mapo tofu dish.
