“I have recently discovered Fly Awake and am so glad. I stop in about once a week for a tea service whilst I read, journal, brainstorm, dream, sit in the sun, and/or people watch. It’s a great spot and the teapushers, for lack of a better word, are knowledgeable and attentive. Stop in for an hour or three and enjoy some delicious tea!“

“Kava Saia is one of the coolest places i’ve been to since i moved to portland! highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a community of people if you are sober / recently quit drinking (like me). The staff were so welcoming & amazing, seriously just the best atmosphere possible. I didn’t know anything about kava or what I wanted when I came in, but thankfully the kavatenders made me feel super comfortable immediately. No awkwardness of coming alone, just a really cool place with amazing vibes & amazing people! Highly recommend. Even if you’re not sober, come try kava! To me, it’s like all of the positive effects of alcohol with no negative effects (hangover etc). Also big S/O to Shayla & Todd, the kavatenders when I first came in by myself - just the best! Can’t speak highly enough about these two. I never write reviews but this was necessary.“

“Delicious speciality beverages are punctuated by the kind baristas creating them. Beautiful space and drink ware. One of the only spots that offers pour overs that are actually dialed in. Bring your nerdy coffee friends here. Bring your mom here. Come alone with a book. 😊“

“Scenic upstairs setting overlooking the lan su gardens. Tranquil atmosphere with the chirping of a variety of birds in the background. Teahouse is air conditioned and offers both iced and hot teas. The price for tea and dessert is very reasonable. Worth a visit, but plan time to enjoy the juxtaposition of a peaceful garden inside the hustle and bustle of the city.“

“Excellent little cocktail bar tucked away inside of the Woodlark Hotel. Can't comment on the food, as we only had drinks both times we visited. The cocktails, while higher in price point, felt absolutely worth every dollar. Outstanding, flavorful drinks. The bartenders are warm, welcoming and good at their jobs! Definitely worth stopping in for a drink to hang out in their lovely space“

“Went for the first time recently after living here for 18 years! I put my full botanist knowledge on display here and had an exciting time 💮 The gardens were stunning and I enjoyed a tasty Taiyaki snack from the shop after taking in the views. Will definitely need to return in the spring when the sakura bloom since my boyfriend loves cherry blossoms 🌸 The best part was finding my favorite flower at the gift shop! They had it as both a bookmark (only one left) and a tapestry (not out on display) so I really feel like I mega lucked out! It’s a climbing cactus that only grows in tropical Asia called Queen of the Night. I’ve never seen iconography of it sold in North America before so I was ecstatic! What a beautiful place- will definitely be back!“
