Competently made sushi, love the conveyor belt style and the atmosphere was great, but the selection wasn't so much. Maybe it's just I came at the wrong time

Their servings are totally worth the price. You can request sushi or any on the menu that isn't on the revolving sushi bar. You can also see behind the sushi bar, the center of the sushi place, how they make sushi. I hope sesame red bean balls would be a bit sweeter and I hope Lexington roll will be added on the menu. Definitely a sushi place that you'd be coming back for!

So slow even with almost nobody else in the restaurant. They were more concerned with giggling and laughing with each other than getting my order together. I waited more than 20 minutes past when it was supposed to be ready for it finally to be handed over to me. Disappointing. No apologies for the wait. I won’t be back.

Stumbling through life with a picky wife is a burden I would never wish on adventurer like me. I have traveled the world, eaten strange and extraordinary things, gone to places that were dark and dangerous. I cast myself into newness like a dog going after a dropped potato chip.
My wife on the other hand is generally not a culinary explorer. She has a long list of things she does not like, places she will not try, and cuisines that are off the table.
That being said, she is supportive, trusting, helpful, and kind hearted, so I guess the balance is in my favor.
Finding a new venue to put on our list of places to eat is rare and welcome. For years there was a running theme where she would ask where I wanted to go and then would turn down each place until I arrived at her favorite place and then she would say yes! A good safe choice that would drive me crazy. I would say in frustration, why not just tell me where are going so we don’t have to do this ongoing ritual?
When a favorite place closed down it was a global crisis.
Anyway, we have settled on a few places we both like but I am always looking for a place she is willing to try.
Yi-Sushi was a success! We were sorry the belt was not working, she loves the ability to just grab what looks good and I love the gimmicky concept, it reminding me of my years spent living in Japan where the conveyor system is as ambiguous as the soda machines on every corner, or the drunk businessmen on the late night trains.
Well that night it was broken and although there was a substantial language barrier I was told it would be fixed in a couple of days.
Regardless of lack of mechanized servitude, we both found the sushi fresh, plentiful, and delicious.
Although I hate to be a penny pincher, I will also say we got carried away, ordered way too much (another reason for a conveyor belt) and still walked out at about the same price as some of our other favorite places. Figure about half the price as we usually spend for similar quality.
So getting into the weeds of what sushi is all about, I will say that in Japan, this is just what you ate on the way home. You expected good friendly service, fresh good food, and a decent price. You also expected cleanliness.
Hi-Sushi hits straight to the nostalgia on every point. Friendly atmosphere and great food.
This place goes on my wife’s list of favorites so they can expect to see us regularly, and I’m not unhappy about the situation.
I love it when a different culture works its way into the fabric of a neighborhood. It normalizes the world and brings us closer together.
In Japan the business men would take pride in how high they could stack their plates and still be on a budget. There were epic lunches!

This place has quickly become our favorite sushi spot! The place is clean, bright and comfortable. Staff is SO friendly, always smiling and attentive - one of the cooks, Meng, is there every time we go in and is always works so fast and is warm, kind and always says goodbye. Happy Hour cannot be beat (i believe 2-4, but double check) always a fantastic variety on the belt but if you order off the menu your food is prepared quickly. Everything is fresh and generous! Go!

I gotta say this is by far the best conveyor belt sushi place in Vancouver area.... the nagri fish cuts were absolutely massive unlike normal small pieces served at these types of places. Fresh as can possibly be. I've never had creamy scallops with avocado and I gotta say that made those rolls even better than I could imagine who would have thunk that a basic fruit that's in all sushi would take these scallops to a whole new level. Damn....
Lastly the calamari is on point it's crispy fresh and not fake like alot of other places serve. Service was also amazing never had to wait for anything. The servers always came to me and ask if i was ok and if i needed to order anything fresh. TOP NOTCH SERVICE with a smile. I give this place 5/5 stars. Definitely recommend yo sushi.
