Nashi Orchards Tasting Room, located on Vashon Island, is a charming cidery that offers a delightful selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The spacious and inviting interior features a bookshelf filled with a variety of books, reflecting its artistic history as a sculptor's studio. Visitors can enjoy a flight of unique and dry ciders, made without added sugar, while learning about the drinks from the knowledgeable and friendly staff. The tasting room also offers Japanese snacks for purchase.
The non-alcoholic menu features standout options like the D'Anjou Sparkling Perry and the Korean Giant Perry, which can be enjoyed in the outdoor seating area or indoors among the cozy and airy atmosphere. The cidery specializes in perries, which are ciders made from pears, though they do have some apple options. The tasting menu is highly recommended, with both alcoholic and NA options available. The ciders and perries are high quality and offer a broad and ever-changing spectrum of tastes, often described as amazing and very different from typical ciders.
The grounds are peaceful, with a few small farm animals in corrals, and the atmosphere is authentic and inviting. The staff are kind, knowledgeable, and committed to providing an educational experience without pushing products. Indoor seating is available, along with covered and uncovered outdoor tables, a fire pit, and sheep on the property. Visitors should check the hours before visiting, as the location tends to be a popular stop later in the day, sometimes attracting very intoxicated guests, which may lead to unsolicited comments when visiting alone. Overall, Nashi Orchards Tasting Room is an ideal place to relax and enjoy a drink outside the main shops-and-restaurants area of Vashon, whether sunbathing in summer or warming up by the fire in winter.
