Walked by with my dog and wanted to pop in real quick to grab a couple things. Looked around, saw nowhere to tie up my dog. No hooks, no nothing. So, tied her to a table as close as I could to the sidewalk. Imagine maybe 2 feet from the sidewalk.
Go in, grab my things, about to check out and I hear a “WHOSE DOG IS THIS.” I raise my hand, it me! Guy absolutely mean mugs me. YOU CANT HAVE YOUR DOG IN HERE. Woah dude, aggressive. Ok. I put down the stuff I was going to buy, walk over to untie my dog. Mind you, this guy is straight up mean mugging me every step of the way. Until I untie her and walk out.
Must have been the owner. Absolute jerk. Someone else even commented how much of a jerk he was being.
Anyway, if you have a dog and want to support this guy’s business, I guess you can’t! Nowhere to leave your dog while you spend your money at his store.
Sad, cause the woman at the front was really sweet. Now I’ll forever have a bad taste in my mouth about this place.

The menu here is just awesome. I think I’ve tried everything and everything is very good, clearly made with care by people who actually eat the food they make. they like big flavors here. The chicken teriyaki is barbecued just the side of blackened with a powerfully flavorful sauce. The sauce has the familiar comforting teriyaki combo of salty sweet and tangy but leans less on the sugar and more on the ginger and slightly more complex flavors. But it’s still definitely teriyaki. The tofu teriyaki is awesome, a crispy fried medium firm slab on top of perfectly cooked rice. Get the deluxe! Mac salad? Yum. Crispy eggroll for texture. Satisfying.
Don’t skip the deluxe fries with kewpie mayo, furikake, and chili crisp my dude.
So teriyaki is associated with being cheap, and this is not really that kind of teriyaki. However, I will say that relative to other dining options on the island, the vibe is great and social, the food is excellent, and to be honest you’re not going to eat out for cheaper on the island pretty much anywhere unless you go to the Thriftway deli (not knocking the Thriftway deli, I love me some chicken strips).
Oh yeah and it’s also a craft beer and craft soda and wine store, I think that’s probably the main point of the place? But obviously you can get amazing selections of beer and wine.
And then right next door is the delightful Vashon Creamery for dessert!

Had an awesome time at pop pop. Great selection of beers and food options are perfect for vegans and others. We got there a little later and after dinner when asking about having one more beer, the bartender had a classic line response and said “You can do whatever you want” 😂
Super cool dude and great service.

The staff at Soda Pop Shop seemed like solid individuals—friendly and welcoming—so this rating is strictly based on the food. I ordered the Teriyaki Deluxe Plate, which looked visually amazing and is what drew me in. Unfortunately, the flavor didn’t match the presentation. The chicken lacked depth—mostly just tasted like chili oil and salt—and the mac salad was far too sweet for my taste. The standout parts were the fresh salad and the spring roll, which were solid.
I also grabbed a musubi, but it looked and tasted dry, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. As a Polynesian, these are staples of my culture’s food that I’ve had a million times, so I came in with high hopes and an open mind. I’m always down to see new takes on traditional flavors, but this missed the mark for me.
That said, $25 is a fair price for a solid plate—this just wasn’t it this time. I’m still interested in checking out more of the menu over the summer to see if there are some hidden gems or flavorful options. Hoping for a better experience next round.

We ate dinner at a restaurant nearby and had to go containers with us (family of 6). I just wanted to go in and check out what beers they have, I saw Pliny the Elder and went to buy them and the guy greeted me with a very aggressive, "you can't have outside food in here, no exceptions" so I responded with we already ate we are just walking around shopping with the containers because we hadn't been back to our car yet. I did give him a smug look and showed my disappointment. We spent hundreds of dollars on the local community and it's sad to see " local " businesses run off the people who provide for their families. I shop and eat local as much as possible. To the guy who checked me out, get over yourself buddy. Learn how to read your customers and understand that some people are only there to buy your product and leave.

This is a must stop destination while visiting Vashon. They have an excellent and extensive craft beer selection if items on tap and in cans. Play professional and friendly staff. Excellent mellow atmosphere. Their food is great too I highly recommend the loco Moco or the spam musubi. For an added bonus theater located next to an ice cream shop with video games and pinball games so adults can stay on one side and kids could be on the other. Worth checking out!
