The Red Ox Seafood and Steakhouse

Back in Appleton on Oct. 25th, visiting from Houston Texas. Always first on my list is to dine at the Red Ox. As always - never a disappointment. John and team continues to deliver high quality food and drink. Started with the King Crab legs- melt in your mouth. The Prime Rib - so tender you can cut it with a fork, In my opinion the Red Ox serves the best Prime Rib in the state of Wisconsin! Hat's off to Jordan (John's Son) his genuine hospitality with the guests is something special - hard to find these days. Don't forget the Grasshopper for your after diner drink. If your a Bourbon drinker make sure you try the Red Ox's private barrel select Elijah Craig, great before or after dinner! Johnny keep up the good work! Tommy T. from H-town.

This place was a MAJOR disappointment. I am in town for work for the week and had my eye on this place before I got into town. Save yourself the trouble and money and go to Texas Roadhouse. I ate nearly an identical meal there Sunday evening and it was significantly better and a better price. I ordered steak and shrimp and veggies with a salad at both places. The salad here was lettuce, shredded (old looking) cheese, and shredded carrots (I asked for no croutons although to be fair they are included). Salad sucked. I asked for my steak medium rare which was cooked properly but it was bland, dry, and chewy. Even the creamy horseradish was bland. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. The 5 asparagus I got were the best part of the meal. My waitress was nice but not nearly as lively or friendly as at Texas Roadhouse. Even the customers here were painfully annoying to be around. Haughty Taughty type complaining about every little detail. Not sure what the rave is all about. I wouldn't eat here for free. Thumbs down.

Visiting town for our first game at Lambeau and decided to stop here for food. The steaks we had were perfectly cooked. The Haddock trio and jumbo shrimp were outstanding. If you're visiting the area for the first time, this is the place to go.

Food use to be 5 star but the steak isn't at the level it use to be. Had zero taste. Maybe just there on bad day

The food was good but felt it was a bit expensive for an older looking kind of supper club. Filet was good but under cooked from what was requested.

I have eaten at many 4 star restaurants.But they can't compare to The Red Ox and Seafood restaurant on Oneida Street.Appleton Wi
The variety of food is amazing and the quality of food and service is amazing.I would recommend this restaurant to everyone

Environment okay. very hard to have conversation in the wine room area. No group was disrespectful the sound bounced so much that it made it very hard to talk to each other.
Heads up when ordering the sea food salad. Very generous portions with that meal.
