I stopped into the Wooden Nickel Bar and Grill on College Avenue in downtown Appleton tonight for dinner. Been there many times and never have had a bad experience. Always had nothing but exceptional service from the staff especially the bartender Kristen and every time I am there the owner Tony makes it a point to stop by my chair and thank me for my business. I have had many burgers around the Valley and there are many good ones, but if you want the “Best of the Best” you need to stop in there and order the Double Play Combo. It is the best burger in Wisconsin 2nd to none.

Great place, clean, and with fun clientele. I went for Trivia Night and had a blast. The people behind the bar were great, and the young woman Kristin behind the bar was friendly and recommended some food items. I'll be coming back.
Decided to visit Wooden Nickel Sports Bar & Grill on a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm, anticipating it wouldn't be too crowded. However, the service was unexpectedly slow, almost prompting us to consider leaving. With only two staff members on duty, serving both at the bar and tables seemed challenging. Patrons at the bar appeared to receive prompt service, while those at tables experienced delays. Despite this, the burgers were enjoyable; we just wished for faster service, especially on a Saturday afternoon.

They seemed to be short staffed and the cook was very slow. I feel our food order got lost , or misplaced. We were there about 6pm and did not get food until about 6:50

Waitress was rude, ignored us. Bought water and never came back . We had to go up to the bar to order. We waited an hour and a half for burgers. The food was BAD! Grilled cheese cooked on one side only. No utensils were brought, no more drinks offered other than the initial 1 water we got when we sat down. I will never go back! Honestly, when you go out and blow $60 on lunch, you get treated like this, food not good, it's extremely aggravating! After reading previous reviews, why is this joint even open anymore!
Ordered a Curlers Fish Sandwich which is offered fried or grilled. My sister and I ordered the grilled option. We got a nasty deep fried fish sandwich. When we questioned this and showed our server the menu, he said I could make u a new one but it would be the same bread fish piece grilled on the grill. We said no thanks! Should have ordered something else. My vegetarian niece ordered fried pickles and bit into a fried fish finger. She was completely grossed out. Server really didn't check on us. It's a cute bar but we will not be going again. If you offer a menu item don't do a bait and switch. And serve THE RIGHT item.

Food was alright. Service was not good. We asked for the check and our waitress was talking to a coworker for 10 minutes before she brought the check. Bringing drinks took quite a long time considering the bar was almost empty.
