I Just noticed my 1st review, from years ago, was removed. don’t know why. Anyway here it goes again, I have been going there for years, owner male always worked the bar. Always had good meal good conversation, good time. And I always left very generous tips always 25-30%. This was pre Covid.
One day, I went there on date noticed that owner wasn’t there, 2 female, mother daughter was in charge. Don’t know if they were new owner or owner’s wife & daughter. They didn’t seam very friendly so I didn’t ask. Right out the door they were rude. Had to wait way longer than usual to be asked what we wanted to eat or drink. We noticed the 2 females (mother & daughter. Mostly the daughter) were hovering around and listening to our conversation.
We also watched 3 separate customers, who came after us, order and eat their food before our order was even taken. When they finally came to take our order, they would say we ran out of this or that. Had to wait way too long to be served. while we waited we saw few other customers order & get served food. Foods that they told us were out.
Food finally arrives, cold at that point. & I am wondering if they spit on the food. My date was very uncomfortable with the mother daughter hovering around us and listening to our conversation. I told her this things happens sometimes, when you are not white.
I have never had such a bad restaurant experience ever. At that point I didn’t care how much I liked the male owner who used to work the bar. I don’t know or care if those 2 women were owner’s family or new owner. I just didn’t want to experience this again. I tipped the overworked waitress $20 and told her she didn’t deserve it for the poor service she gave us. And never went back.
You lost a customer who normally spends around 3 figures per visit, just on food & drinks, +tips.

Pros: Good little local place to eat. No frills, pretty basic interior. A good menu, plenty of standards and some more interesting items too, like the "Boom Boom Cauliflower Bites" and the roasted Brussels Sprouts. Wait staff were super! Got the scallops and the portion was generous. It was seasoned well.Cons: a lot of the food did not seem homemade. The coleslaw side was very not good - definitely tasted like too-sweet bulk cafeteria slaw that comes in a jug. Ordered an iced tea and it too tasted metallic and "canned" which was very surprising because it's the most basic thing to make fresh? The appetizers and fish were most likely bulk frozen too, they were edible but not fantastic. The scallops were cooked, but not broiled enough to get any browning.Overall, a nice little place with decent food, no wait, and filling. Wouldn't take a date here but would stop back after a long day of hiking around Devil's Lake.
Vegetarian options: There were a few specials that were vegetarian but no veggie burger substitute

We stopped in for a sandwich. My husband order onion rings as his side for an up charge. When we got are bill, they charged us for his sandwich with fries, which he didn’t get, then charged him full price of $6.95 for the onion rings. Food was okay, nothing to write home about, service was excellent! Too bad they don’t treat their customers like their server did. We definitely will not be back and will not recommend this place to anyone. Way Way to Pricey for what you get!???

The teenagers working were more interested in talking in the back than serving anybody or cleaning the filthy floors. The girl with the nose ring who took our order didn't give us silverware and didn't check with us after bringing our order. The food was fine.
