Gordy’s Surf Shack

The burgers are advertised as smash burgers, but were frozen bubba burgers. They had the distinctive bubba burger shape and were not smashed whatsoever. It was pretty annoying that both online and on the menus they were falsely advertised. I would have happily paid what I did for a good smash burger, but that was not the case.

Additionally there was a Gordy’s employee from a different building who walked in after us and started chatting with the person pouring beers. When I went up to order with the person at the register, she shot me a dirty look and rolled her eyes. I guess I was supposed to wait for her to finish chatting so she could order? However, the location and view is fantastic.

Overall the experience was mid at best. Maybe I’ll give it another shot next weekend.

The food here sucks!! Been twice, the first time they messed up my order and it tasted like crap and the 2nd the fish and chicken was rubber and had a weird taste. Didn’t even taste right. The waitress was kind and it’s nice to sit on the water listening to music but don’t come here thinking the food is all that in Fontana.

Had Classic and Chu Cho burgers. Despite a pile of ingredients and $17 price, both were basically flavorless. Fries were good. Arrived at 3:40p with open tables, but they won’t seat anyone until 4:05p due to a shift change. Weird. Sat waterside at “Shore Shack”.

The staff were very kind and our food was great! We had very quick service and it was nice to sit outside by the lake and enjoy the weather! We will definitely be coming back again!

The food was not great and service was poor. Our waitress was talking with others employers and forgot about us. You pay for the views and the ambience.

If you’re wanting to sit outside and be amongst a lot of action, this is a great spot. Drink and dine while watching boaters, skiers, and others utilizing the lake and the marina. Good food, drink and service!

We went there with friends after spending an afternoon on the water. This was a first time visit for our friends who can be quite brutal in their assessment of a restaurant. They were quite impressed and truly enjoyed a very relaxing and outstanding meal. This was a Saturday around 5:00 pm and we were seated immediately. Our server was great and made sure everyone was made to feel relaxed and welcomed. She was attentive and we would give her 5 stars and a 25% tip. The food is pub style and was very good. One burger offered is called the "Cobalt Blue Burger" this 1/3 lb. burger has crumbled blue cheese with onion pickle and lettuce-you add your own mustard and ketchup if you want. However, everything is fairly good. There are 6 restaurants in Fontana and this place is #1. This is also the home of the Abbey resort and their 3 restaurants, and Gordy's is still #1.. Our friends can't wait to go back, but we knew they would feel that way..

Fun lakeside casual dining. We were seated quickly and enjoyed good burgers/fries. They have fun outside seating for casual cocktails to watch the boaters going in/out of the lake. Highly recommend

TripAdvisor states that they are only open on Friday Saturday and Sunday. They have been open EVERY day since June. They say they have advised TripAdvisor but have not been able to get you to correct the information you post for them. Pretty poor

Have eaten at Gordy's many times over past years and was good place with decent menu for many years. Friday fish fry is a regular and very crowded event in the summer. The menu has been severely reduced and prices substantially increased. The Fish Fry is now a much higher price and although all you can eat, not anywhere as good as in the past . Too bad, many other choices in the area so Gordy's is far down on the list.
