Charley Cat Hot Chicken Reviews
Good food, reasonable price, and fast enough on a Friday evening!
2 pieces of feedback:
1. Make it significantly more apparent that it’s a ghost kitchen inside Mallard’s.
2. Indicate which sandwich is which on the package!
My spouse went to pick up our call-in order tonight around 8pm-ish at the New Richmond location in Mallards. As he was sitting and waiting, he witnessed (saw/heard) the cook drop our food on the floor and place it back on a plate to be served to us. The chicken tenders were good but everything else was left to be desired. Fries were soggy shoestrings. Ordered from Shakopee location. Slow service. Confusing to find (inside another restaurant).

Charley Cat Hot Chicken offers phenomenal chicken. Reviewers highlight the Nashville hot chicken as some of the best, even compared to Nashville itself. The Korean BBQ fried chicken sandwich is also a popular choice, with one reviewer stating it was the best chicken sandwich they ever had. The Mac and cheese is described as very good and a nice complement to the sandwiches, though one reviewer found it to be watery and tasting like butter noodles. Fries are also noted as good.
The restaurant operates as a ghost kitchen inside Mallard's, which can be confusing for customers. Some reviewers suggest making this arrangement more apparent. Ordering is done at the bar, and service is generally good. Food comes out in a timely manner. Despite some initial confusion regarding the ordering and dining process, the food is considered good and reasonably priced. While some meals are highly recommended, others like the Korean BBQ chicken sandwich were found to be average by one reviewer. The overall experience can be confusing due to the ghost kitchen setup within a different restaurant.
