This used to be the BEST Italian bread around. I don't understand what happened since it was sold. I was upset they were closing but then happy they sold it including recipes to an employee. But since then this is the WORST Italian bread I have ever had! How can it be so bad when they were given the recipe???? Now it doesn't even rise and there is no crust on it like Italian bread is supposed to have. How this place stays open is beyond me. The photo on the left as you can see is bad!! The photo on the right is what Italian bread should look like. I'm so sad cardinelis is gone forever.
Best bread in existence! Try the Round. It's hearth baked and tastes so good! These guys inspired me to bake bread since nothing like it exists after moving to Missouri post high school. Cardinali's is true old school craftsmanship (hand shaped and hearth baked - on a stone) as opposed to the machine made chain driven oven mass produced product at the other bakery in Kenosha. There's a difference! I grew up eating both bakery's bread. Now as a baker, I understand why my grandparents (1920-2000) bought all (or mostly all) Cardinali's. It's a true artisan bread. There's nothing else like it (anywhere)! Tip... buy more than you need. FREEZE what you won't eat right away. Thaw what you need for the next day overnight.
Great bread!

The bakery is supposed to open at., 7:00 am. I arrived at 8 to pick up an order that is already paid for. It is 9:00 and I am still waiting along with four other customers for the place to open.

The best Italian bread!!!
The best bread in Kenosha. Paiellis is decent (not as good as it was when I was a kid) but not as good as Cardinali's in my opinion. Growing up in Kenosha, we bought this bread from the time I was born to the time I left for college. I'm sure my grandparents also grew up eating this bread. Some of the best in the world in my opinion. I've been in Missouri for 20+ years now and miss this bread (and Carls pizza) very much. I usually buy 20 loaves and freeze them when I come back home.

You just have to love bakery items
Love the French bread.
Had an intense craving for some real bakery bread and this place hit the nail on the head. Definitely will be my go-to from now on.
