“The Dog House is exactly the kind of local bar you hope to stumble into laid-back, full of character, and serving up food that goes way beyond what you’d expect from a neighborhood joint. I stopped in on a whim and was seriously impressed.
First off, the Carmichael burger lives up to the hype. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and stacked with cheese in the middle it’s one of the best bar burgers I’ve had in Iowa. I also tried their wings, and the flavor options are wild in the best way. The Raspberry Jalapeño was a surprising favorite sweet with just enough kick.
The vibe inside is relaxed and friendly. Plenty of TVs to catch a game, and the crowd was a nice mix of regulars and new faces. It’s easy to feel like a regular here, even if it’s your first time. The bartenders were quick and easy to chat with, which makes all the difference.
Whether you’re stopping in for drinks, a bite, or just looking for a solid place to unwind after work, The Dog House hits the mark. Definitely one of Dubuque’s hidden gems.“

“Small is beautiful AND delicious! We absolutely recommend this quaint little coffee shop. We ordered drip coffee, hot chocolate, a chocolate croissant and a cinnamon roll. All of it was great delicious especially the chocolate croissant which was fresh and deliciously flaky. So glad we went there instead of Starbucks.“

“This was our second time eating here. We enjoyed our first time so much that we had to come back!!! First time we had the smash burgers and I’m not too fond of hamburgers but they were delicious!!! This time we had a Philly cheese sandwich and it was phenomenal!!! The owner and employees are amazing people!!!“

“They have done an AMAZING rehab of this store - I was mind-boggled! It's gorgeous, bright and opulent inside. I got back to my hotel late at night and all the restaurants were closed. HY Vee has a huge selection of pre-made, delicious food choices. Grab a fork, I forgot!“

“Handy location in Kennedy Mall, lots of free parking. Standard , welcoming bar decor, friendly service. Fried pork tenderloin sandwich was big, crisp, tender. I added mayo and ranch and enjoyed it. McDonalds style french fries. They let you add your own salt (which I love) Burger was big, but cooked well done, so kind of dry. Mnr“

When we walked in we were greeted by the sweetest person running the complex that day, filling us in on the history of the mini golf course because that's what we were there to do! Yes, it's very dated and some of the mechanics don't work on evey hole but fun....absolutely!!! ⛳️“

“Hostess amazing! 2 LARGE Pancakes, eggs, 3 turkey sausage patties $8... split the meal between us we ate there for the first time 2 weeks earlier and ordered the breakfast burrito. They did not disappoint! Next time will try the Asian Cuisine or the Brick Oven Pizza as both options also looked fantastic! Will be stopping any time we drive through town.“

“We stopped at The Barrel House on our way thru Dubuque. Food was great, but our waiter Travis was outstanding! Very nice young man who did everything you'd want a great waiter to do! His mom raised him right!!!“

“So darn good! We were camping in town for an extended weekend, and we tried this establishment for our first meal. We ate here once a day after that, and we tried several things and everything was perfect especially the fries. Drinks and food are both well priced and well portioned.“
