The Root Note has about 5 to 6 vegan menu selections including a crepe with butternut squash ( they were out of it when we were there, so did not get to try it :-() which is amazing for this part of the country where dairy is queen and king. My husband had the falafel bowl, and the falafels had great flavor. I had the mushroom sandwich which had fantastic bread which pretty much made the sandwich good. Too bad this place does not serve dinner.

A very cute vegan-friendly café in downtown LaCrosse. I had an oat milk iced matcha latte and it was the best!

The ambiance and food are wonderful. The breakfast biscuit sandwich is something I wouldn’t hesitate to order again—it was that delicious. The list of coffee drinks is impressive. Highly recommended.

Been going here almost my entire life on this planet and cannot recommend this place enough. Moved to Philly for a few years and found myself loving the new places I’d go but nothing compared to the rootnote. Rootnote will always hold a special place in my heart. If you haven’t gone yet, I highly suggest you do. Incredible options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free diets (Try the chocolate chip cookies btw if you’re not gluten free, it’s amazing) it’s also one of the most welcoming places on earth and the staff are the nicest humans you’ll ever meet.

Corey and Jared run a fantastic cafe!
From the lovely decor (I love the plants at the front and as a divisor of the space) to the super tasty Gibraltar (i.e. cortado) along with the beautiful latte art, this place is a hidden gem.
The coffee selection here is also veryich on point! The only thing I regret is to not have bought a bag of the Colombian coffee that they were serving that day.
I'll definitely come back whenever coming by!

Delicious, filling, high quality breakfast sandwich and falafel bowl.

Employee/owners have forgotten more about coffee than I'll ever know. Wonderful artisanal selections that anyone can enjoy.

Very good coffee and food. Food does not come out fast so expect to wait. Took an hour to get 2 breakfast sandwiches…

We came in from out of town and were so happy to find this place. It exceeded my expectations. We are from Oregon and have had a lot of great coffee. The coffee and the food was delicious. My fiancé and I both loved the breakfast biscuit sandwich. I got it with a gluten-free bun and it was great. I loved the unique flavors of the specialty drinks. The best part was the relaxing atmosphere and the great service. Everyone there seemed happy to be there and happy to answer my long list of questions I always have when I order at a new place. We came back the next day and brought the rest of our family and they loved it too!
