What a shame, our favorite La Crosse restaurant has changed to a "steak forward" eatery, and prices have gone through the roof! No wonder we were the only people in the main dining area during prime time on a Friday night. Nine cuts of steak are offered, all but one are $50 - $90 each(!), with -nothing- else included! Just a twice baked potato and vegetables will add $24 to your dinner tab, and Mushrooms and carmelized onions on your steak will add another $10! There is still one fowl entree, a pork chop entree ($55), and three seafood entrees offered (no crab now), which do include either a vegetable or potato side, but we consider that minimal choice. Ambiance and service were still top notch, but with such limited selection and astronomic prices, we will be looking for a new "go to" place to dine after years of celebrating all of our anniversaries, birthdays, and date nights here.

Filets were good but the supposed 8 oz. Was the same size at the 6oz. Asparagus was too large and “woody”. Salad was excellent! Twice baked potato was enough for 2 people.
Fabulous service and wonderful food. The ambience looking at the River seeing a grain barge come by was the best.
The wine had sour taste to it, per my 2 friends. I ordered the salmon plate. It was over cooked and bland. There wasn't any sauce on it Was even asked if wanted it med rare, which I have never been asked that question before when ordering salmon at other restaurants. (and other places have overcooked them as well). The veggies were overcooked. It didn't look appetizing. The server was never around so we could catch her eye when we needed something. the 3 of us decided that we weren't going to come back.
Service was excellent. Disappointed there was no seafood. Very limited menu. Garlic mashed potatoes were slightly warm. Don't think I'd return.
The food was superb and Aaron did a fantastic job of taking care of us. It was a great way to celebrate our 43rd anniversary.
We were celebrating my sisters birthday. Service was great as always and the food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed the meal and we will definitely be back again and again.
Everything was very good with the exception of the prices. I realize this is an upscale restaurant but the prices have gotten so high that this makes it a bit less desirable.
My cocktail was delicious., a raspbery lemon vodka martini. Our waitress was swamped so we had more than one person wait on us. The food was also delicious. A must-see restaurant to visit when you are in the area. The view of the Mississippi added to the upscale atmosphere.
Waterfront aspires to be a great restaurant but due to multiple miscues in service they miss the mark.

We went for our anniversary. Amazing food, amazing service, with an amazing view!! Even got a nice dessert treat at the end.
Absolutely wonderful meal. Steaks were sooooo delicious! Service was top notch. Oysters were so fresh. Will definitely be back the next time we are in town.
We love going to the waterfront. Every year, we celebrate our anniversary there. The food was wonderful. The atmosphere is amazing. The quality of the food is exceptional. The prices went up quite a bit from last year ,as much as I love the restaurant we may need to start eating in the tavern to get the tavern, prices and menu options
We absolutely love dinner service and expected that lunch would have the same level of service and quality food. It was not. While our waiter was very nice, they seemed like they may have been new and didn't take the menu seriously? This was a stark contrast to the dinner we had later at Lovechild where everything runs like a well oiled machine. I asked about the burger and if it was a smash type burger...I was told yes. That was not the case. The burger was definitely pre-formed patties and not a smash at all. They could have at least been hand formed patties. Preformed makes me think it was low quality tube meat or frozen patties. I also expected that the fries would have been a better quality as well and not frozen fries. It was disappointing. Culvers makes a better burger. That said, my husband loved his steak sandwich, but was less than impressed that the chips seemed to be out of a bag. We will be back, the bartender and drinks were amazing as usual...but we will not be back for lunch.
The Waterfront never disappoints. The food is high quality and deliciously prepared and the service is outstanding. The view of the water is so lovely especially during sunset. Highly recommend!
