Lets see...we walk in for old times sake for my sister-in laws engagement shindig with her friends and the bartender starts making snarky comments about us wearing masks. No big deal, I get it...maybe he was hit hard by the pandemic....I order a $6 IPA and tip him $2 and I now see he charged me $25 on my card. So yeah, avoid this place if you don't want to deal with douchebags

Stopped in Madison for the evening and while out walking found this place. Great atmosphere and drinks plus we were so happy to find they had Michael Collins whiskey.

Where did it go? This used to be one of best spots on st street. I was there a few weeks ago, a very cool bartender made me stay longer than anticipated! Ella i think her name was. Anyway, very sad this place is closed. Used to be so great.

I have a food allergy (gluten) and when I asked about gluten free options, the server told me that there are almost no available options. After explaining that I was gluten free, I ordered a bunless burger... their fries aren't gluten free.. I asked about their chips... they didn't have any.. so I asked for a side salad. That came to the table with croutons on it. When I asked the server for a different salad bc of the croutons, I was asked to just pick them off the salad... which I can't do. It was a frustrating experience and I wish I followed my initial instinct to leave when I first sat down. I had zero warm and fuzzy feelings from our server, but managers need to retrain staff on how to handle food allergies.. advise the server to clarify if things are a food preference or an allergy and mark the ticket as an allergy so the chef and prep team can work to accommodate the allergy without generating food waste and making the guest feel like a j*** for advocating for themselves.

We had the Friday fish special. It was really good. The food came out in a timely fashion. However, the wait staff was slow to check on us and pick up the bill. Off night maybe?

I go to grab a beer when I have to kill time between buses. Surprisingly quiet around 7pm on a Friday night. A pleasant place.

Always a great atmosphere, friendly service and always have a new beer to try

Food was not good. 2 of 7 burgers that came out had all the fixings as advertised. Definitely not a 1/3# patties. Were not cooked to order. For a $12 burger I would have thought I got a $3 McDonald’s special. Been going there every year for six years, will never be back. Unfortunate

A friendly and well run State St bar. The bartenders are professionals and can handle large crowds. One of my favorite places to go with my friends in Madison.

Great beer selections, decent food selections (fewer food choices than beer choices, which isn't a bad thing), nice, warm atmosphere (love the wooden interior and fireplace). Weaker points are the slow service and the too-quiet jukebox. Nicely located near UW and the capital.

Food and drinks here are pretty typical of most places on state street and nothing that stands out above the rest. The best part is that once you pregame here you can enter the piano bar (ivory room) for free instead of paying the cover. It's a frequent stop for us on nights out for that reason alone. A shotski is also a good experience to keep the night going.
