Was my favorite in Madison for decades. Now, consistently stingy food portions for literally everything.

This is not authentic Ethiopian food. Why is there sour cream in the middle of injera platter??

Long time customer since State Street. The most consistent restaurant (even after being closed for 3 years) I've ever eaten at and there are several. Healthy, clean, delicious food. In my top 5.

Incredible food- I meant to take a picture of our platter but we gobbled it up too fast! Fish and chips were a great choice for my six year old. Plus we got to sit in a delightful outdoor sanctuary. What a gem in Madison!

Buraka holds such a special place in my heart that it's hard to put into words. My partner and I have been regulars here, and this restaurant has become our go-to spot for every meaningful moment. Whether it's date nights or catching up with close friends, Buraka has been the backdrop to so many of our cherished memories.

The food is always delicious, the cocktails are on point, and their outdoor seating area is the perfect spot to relax. But what really sets Buraka apart is the owners and staff – they genuinely care about everyone who walks through their doors.

When we told the owners we were leaving Madison and that it was our last dinner, they surprised us with tequila shots and tiramisu as a goodbye gift. It wasn't just the free treats – it was the genuine warmth and the fact that they wanted to properly say goodbye to us. That level of personal connection is incredibly rare.

We're going to miss everything about Buraka – the great food, the outdoor seating, seeing the baby take her first steps around the restaurant, and most of all, the warmth and genuine hospitality.

If you want amazing food with people who actually care, this is your spot. Support these wonderful owners – they deserve all the love!
**Highly recommended for:** Date nights, gatherings with friends, special occasions, or anytime you want to feel like you're dining with family.

Best Friday fish fry!

As always, the food is phenomenal. I recommend getting a combo plate - choice of 2 smaller portions of dinner items. The coconut chicken curry and siriwot (sp?) are personal faves. Service is a leisurely pace but view it as a warm & welcoming space to linger with friends while being well fed, and you'll be quite satisfied.

Love love love Buraka! I made a reservation here to celebrate graduating law school. I went with three others and we ordered a bunch of different things, family style. Everything was amazing. We had some really well seasoned and flavorful curry as well as some lentils and a lot of beef. Man was the beef really really good. I 100% need to come back here. I highly suggest coming here, especially if you have never had Ethiopian food before.

I've been waiting for a beautiful day to try the patio at Buraka, and today did not disappoint. The patio is perfect - quiet, away from the street, and comfortable. The service was excellent! There were meat, vegetarian, and vegan options. I enjoyed my dishes, which came with injera (or you could get rice) and lentil salad. I also got mango passionfruit cheesecake for dessert. Everything was great!

Food was fine, cannot judge its authentic or not but felt little more tanginess in the curry chicken with injeri. Different style of seating arrangement and less parking. Samosa was Gud but batter for cauliflower was bad. Negroni deink was fine. Kindoff expensive for the quality and quantity of food.

My first visit was absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to go back!

I feel like it’s only open for such a short amount of time and there are so many excuses

A very decent ethiopian restaurant in Madison. We love the coconut chicken curry, samosas and Yuka fries. The lentil is so quite spectacular. They have man power shortage so understandably the service is slow. But they did the best they could.
Loved the service and food. Would highly recommend going there. Cheers!
