Ichiban means number 1 translates in my opinion it taste like number 2
Possibly the worst food I’ve ever had. Spicy Crispy chicken was in fact crispy breading with virtually NO chicken and no spice. There was no food value at all on the plate and ended up having an $15 bowl of dry white rice. Unfortunately in the restaurant game, horrible food outweighs fine service.

Ichiban is a very excellent Chinese food restaurant! Dishes were well prepared and ingredients were fresh! They have both booths and smaller tables to accommodate larger and smaller groups. Loved the food!!!

Braised beef was excellent. Fried rice was disappointing. Cozy spot, the door dings when you enter

Food is great here . Spicy and oily with very little protein , but tasty. . Poor cut of meats and quantity of meats. Even soup quantity is less than advertised. Inflation is hitting hard

Seated immediately, 3 of us. Not very busy, Monday dinner. Ordered 4 main entree and one appetizer. Came to our table in about 5 minutes! The Dumplings with spicy sauce were amazing! Not very spicy. Tasted so light and fluffy and homemade! Fried rice was almost deceptive. Looked pale to begin with, but the flavor was absolutely addictive! Veggie Mei fun was delicious. Shredded pork in garlic sauce was good. Spicy chicken was not exactly what we expected. It was crispy chicken bites with spicy peppers. Was hoping for some sauce. Would absolutely recommend!!!!

I have been eating here for several years. The food has always been very delicious, the portions are plentiful, and the prices are very reasonable. The most important thing is that the service has always been very good. The waiters are very kind and will come over regularly to ask how everything is going. Need anything? This kind of service is basically unavailable in other Chinese restaurants, especially for our Chinese or Asian customers, we will continue to support you!

This is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Madison. I ordered the dry-pot pork intestines and tiger skin chili. They were both delicious. The pork intestines were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was so touching! Will visit again.

It was surprised to see there were many oriental restaurants in Madison. Ichiban 四川 was a highly recommended. They had an extensive menu with many authentic Chinese food on it. We could only try a few.
The parking was along the street, not too bad. The dishes were very good, except the 腰花有点硬。The service was excellent, and the prices were quite reasonable.

Decent food, but sometimes inconsistent. This time the cumin lamb was under-seasoned and overcooked and the scallion pancakes were super greasy

The amount of the dishes is too small! The flavor is not good compared with the previous time we had.

After returning from a year in LA, I was afraid I had been too spoiled with really good Asian cuisine, but this place genuinely stands up to the best of them. Great portion sizes, pretty fast service when we came in (though it wasn't super busy), and the food itself is incredible. As someone who dislikes eggplant, I highly recommend the eggplant, but everything we got was good.
Delicious, affordable food with nice Chinese decorations. My husband got the chicken fried rice and it was excellent. Amazing flavor! I got the pot stickers and they were also yummy.
I like that the first page of their menu had a history of the specific type of Chinese food they cook here and that was fun to read.
I would definitely go back!

Our group of three big eaters ordered scallion pancakes, Sichuan eggplant, cumin lamb, spicy string bean, and three pepper chicken for lunch. Every dish was served steaming hot from the kitchen and every bite was savored, although we could not quite finish it all.
