This restaurant's best offerings are their American style maki sushi exploding with all kinds of fillings and toppings. The appetizers and other offerings are pretty basic. The nigiri was disappointing but as expected for this part of the country. The cocktail menu is interesting, but I haven't sampled much from it yet. Oishi is one of the best sushi spots in Madison, offering the best sushi and nigiri with incredibly fresh, high-quality ingredients. The fish is consistently quality and well done, with beautifully presented seafood. The food and staff are all wonderful, with extraordinary service and a great atmosphere, including a water fountain decore. The restaurant goes above and beyond, providing excellent value that is comparable to Red and a bit cheaper. It is the perfect spot for a birthday meal, and the server was amazing, very attentive and helpful with small children and knowledgeable about safe menu items for celiac. Run, don’t walk.
