Service was absolutely amazing, lady was quick to help us and extremely welcoming. Was told our food would take 30 minutes and got it in 15 for 3 people. Some of the best soul food I've had in this state, chicken was unbelievably tender and flavorful and the Mac and cheese was creamy and well seasoned. Would recommend to everyone I could get to listen to me and I will absolutely be coming back.

I had been going back and forwards over the last month about placing an order as I’ve heard no talk about this place, just happen to scroll across it on Google. Well today I did it, and I wish I was able to talk to the chef and explain how pleased I am with this food. THIS IS GOOD!!!! OMG, I definitely have found me a new co to food spot! Go girl or boy! The Mac and cheese was so salty and the cornbread was so nasty 🤢 the fish was fishy and all the sides and cornbread tasted a day old like leftover never again 🤮 so if you heard what I said as a business woman you could of came and made it right but whatever it’s my opinion and I wasn’t mad when I came in 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I don’t know you I was mad about that nasty day old food that you gave me so don’t get twisted the only thing was good was the chicken and to me it sounds like you’re made because I said what I said and remember I tasted the food 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We were absolutley blown away by the taste and amazing quality. This was hands down one of the best meals I have ever had. We will be back!!!!!! The Catfish fish was absolute perfection, the sweet potatos and Mac and cheese, were the best I have ever had!

Best soul food I've had in a long time. I am not local; was definitely worth the drive. Everything was amazing! Mac n cheese, sweet potatoes, greens, rice and gravy, and pork chop. You cannot go wrong. We will be stopping here every time we pass through the Madison area.

We came from Rockford to eat at this place because the reviews were good, however that's not the case 😕. The people were very nice and polite. I ordered the pork ribs, BBQ sauce on the side, greens, and macaroni and cheese. The ribs were bokley and boiled. No smoke taste at all. The Mac and cheese was cold tasteless, and the greens were Glory Greens with no meat just a bunch of stims. The person I dined with ordered fired catfish, Mac and cheese, and greens. She felt the same way about the Greens and Mac. She also says that the fish wasn't seasoned and fired too hard.

I recently moved to Madison from San Francisco and was in search of some really good soulfood. I tried one local place and the chicken was good but the southern sides were to say the least awful, not mention the restaurants interior needed a good cleaning.
I googled soulfood again and the following week I ended up at Marie's Soulfood on Monroe Street. First let's talk about Marie the owner.
Marie is one of the warmest people I've met in a long time and the customer service is on point.
As I was waiting on my order I notice many locals came in, which also gave me a good feeling inside.
I've been back twice and will go back Sunday for some DRESSING! Lord her Carmel Cake is on fire 🔥 I just grabbed up two yesterday, chicken seasoned to perfection!
For those folks who gave her a negative review, ohhh well!....especially the one with the hand sanitizer next to the plate... maybe you're use to tasting hand sanitizer and NOT true Soulfood.
10/10.........Marie keep doing you because the food is fabulous!!!

First Time at Marie’s Soul Food – Worth the Trip from Illinois!
I visited Madison from Illinois and decided to try Marie’s Soul Food for the first time. I ordered the pork chop meal with collard greens, mac & cheese, and yams, and every bite was pure comfort.
The pork chop was tender, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The collard greens had just the right amount of seasoning and a nice kick of flavor. The mac & cheese was creamy, cheesy, and exactly what I was hoping for. And the yams? Sweet, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
The portions were generous, the prices were fair, and the service was warm and friendly. You can tell the food here is made with love. Definitely a must-try when in Madison. I’ll be back!
