The food is great! A couple of Pupusas is all you need......oh, and a piece of cheesecake.
Had an AMAZING sandwich at Monona Bakery several days ago. I ordered another right away because it was DELICIOUS.
I'm thinking about it RIGHT NOW.
Really Good Food
Used to drop hundreds here just to support my people — definitely not for the food, because I cook better at home.
Today I walked in ready to order, and before I could say anything, the worker decided parking was more important than customer service. Then had the nerve to talk slick in Spanish like we wouldn’t catch it. I immediately walked out because i will not eat or spend another dime at an establishment where im not respected . Over something so minuscule . Especially knowing that we were not dining in .
Bad food, bad attitude, bad business.
Don’t recommend. At all. 💯
I want to give a shout-out to Monona Bakery & Eatery 😄 I've ordered their food a lot via delivery apps, but never went inside. My friend Robin & I stopped in on Saturday! I've been on crutches 6 weeks, and they were VERY accommodating 😊 All the staff were amazing, and their food is SO good 🤤 I highly recommended checking them out! As someone who bakes quite a bit, I must say their bakery is 🤌😍👌
We went to Monona Bakery for a late afternoon lunch on the weekend. We were just after the lunch/brunch crowds so it was not busy (thankfully.) We started off with an order of chips and medium salsa. Chips were FRESHLY made and still hot!! Yum. The medium salsa wasn’t too spicy. I ordered the Enchiladas Mole (one steak, one chicken, one cheese) and the hunny got chilaquiles with green sauce and a bowl of chili. Enchiladas were delicious! I think for my tastes the chicken worked best for the mole sauce, which was surprisingly nutty. Loved it! My husband loved the chilaquiles. Unique with the green sauce and feta cheese, and he said it hit the spot. The chili was decent. But was fairly average in flavor. Not bad, but didn’t have the flavor pizzazz we were anticipating.
I took one star off for atmosphere only because there was someone continually sweeping the floor and moving chairs the whole time we ate (which was a little loud at times and distracting.) But to be expected when you dine at off hours I suppose. Not a deterrent, just an observation.
Definitely will return and try another great dish. (Or get the Mole again with all 3 chicken enchiladas!!)

They didn’t have flan out, I thought I missed it so I asked. They said they just finished cooking it and needed to cut it but offered it to me but would be a few minutes. That was really nice of them. It was the best flan I have had.

It took about 1/2 hour to get our food but it was worth the wait. The Chilaquiles were outstanding! Crispy tortillas topped with eggs, cheese and fresh salsa Verde, yum! The price was fair also. I can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu.
