Very quiet for a Wednesday night here, but pleasant enough. First time having a Gyro, which was good in my opinion, and $16 wasn’t bad.The staircase and the entire floor to and from the restrooms were Sticky, which was pretty gross all this considered.

The spanikopita is the best I've had since I moved to Wisconsin last May. Service was excellent, and right scross the street from Museum of Contemporary Art.

Our server was very kind. The atmosphere is unique and fun. Unfortunately, it was not worth $30 a person. The food was just okay. Despite that, I would come back (when I’m not on a budget).

first how do you run out of mash potatoes at 630 for dinner swrvice? second ordered an Ameretto old fashioned yes weird but doesn't deserve snarky attitude when the bar tender when making it. speaking of bartender, at least she stepped out from behind the bar, but that's all she did as she braided her long hair and then proceeded to make drinks, touch straws, and fruit. nope didn't wash hands. Servers looked so confused, everyone was walking around lost, older man behind salad bar was hurt and kept yelling down the elevator but never got responded too and it was just a mess!!!

While the waiter was pleasant they had to ask the kitchen or bartender about absolutely everything. We had to ask for our drinks multiple times. We won't be back.

There's an old saying; " You get what you pay for". When it comes to the pricing vs the food quality at Nicks, you unfortunately don't. There some attributes of the joint, but( and this it to the owners_) it's time to revamp and freshen up the kitchen with some new items, but more importantly, putting the added time in on the food you're serving now.It takes money, to make money, right? Put it into a good cook and give him all he needs to make it the best food on the block. He WILL know what to do if he's that good, and your clientele will know as well, and be happy to pay current fare market value, but start leaving all rave reviews about the food! More items made for scratch by someone with recipes and crafts you can't normally find in the Midwest, and esp not at a greasy spoon on State st! That is your niche, and that is where you'll find yourself set apart from the rest.Remember, you get what you pay for - so when this cook comes, treat him well. Ask, believe, receive. It's time, Nicks.

I've never written a review so quickly after leaving an establishment. My food was okay minus the inedible coleslaw. The only reason I'm even leaving a review is to bring attention to how poorly the owner was treating employees loudly out in the open. Nothing he said couldn't have been a calm conversation in back instead of loud berating in front of all (not many and apparently for a reason) customers.

Had dinner last night before the Temptations and was very pleased. I had the sirloin steak and it was delicious. My companions all enjoyed their meals as well. The service was excellent. I hope that this restaurant is around for a long time. We loved the old time atmosphere and the velvet painting above our booth. Classic restaurant.

Pretty okay! The bartenders are fabulous. The restaraunt (or the clientelle honestly) hasnt changed in 50 years. The greek menu items are incredible.

Nice, quiet bar on State St. Had a very good bartender too.

There is a lot that leaves to be desired. Food is pricey for a greedy spoon diner vibe… Not really Retro, just never updated. I feel like this was the place years ago and the love and passion is just not there anymore. We had a party of 5… had a mix of things. Steak sandwich, veggie melt, burgers etc. all were flat and had no flavor. The only Reason it got 2 stars was our server and location.

Two gyros and an order of onions rings with a 20% tip was $53. No drinks, just water.
