Awesome find in Madison. The atmosphere is fun and clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious.
My wife and I live in Appleton and we love a good Cajun restaurant. We decided to drive down to Madison and give this place a shot. We were not disappointed in the slightest. The service and food were top notch. Brett was our bartender and he knew his business. Welcoming, personable and professional. Very well schooled in both the beer and food menus. North of the bayou will be our go to Cajun restaurant!!
We haven't been there since they reopened. Decided to go have a couple drinks tonight and get food to go as it’s close to home. Bartenders were great and friendly. Got our food home and was missing rice and beans, the chicken on the po boy was as thin as a piece of paper. And fries come with but I got only like 10 fries and they were not fully cooked.
It is a shame and frankly disgraceful to call this even remotely “Cajun” food. I feel sorry for the people of Madison that think this is what Louisiana food tastes like. Hellen Keller could cook better tasting meals.
To start, I’m born and raised in the Bayou’s of Louisiana, so don’t come at me for speaking truth here.
I ordered the fried okra for an appetizer. Never came out.
To ‘sample’ I ordered a small Red Beans, a small Gumbo, and a small étouffée. I’m not sure where to even start so we will begin with the Red Beans. This Louisiana staple is hard to screw up but this place really hit it out of the park. The best part was the bland white rice on top. Now on to the Étouffée. News flash!! Mushrooms do not go in Étouffée. There was ZERO flavor and I described it to my colleague, also from NOLA (we will get to his plate in a moment) that it tasted like Chef Boyardee ravioli sauce. INEDIBLE! Now on to the star of the show - or lack thereof - gumbo. In my 45 years on this earth, I have never had crunchy crawfish tails (texture was unbreaded and deep fried) in a gumbo. You people go big and frankly everyone should go home. Hopefully, not sick.
My colleague got a “Catfish PoBoy.” We are not sure what type of species was being pawned off as catfish but it was not the real thing. It pulled apart like a chicken tender.
This place is a fraud to all things, Louisiana - well, maybe they got the wall paint colors correct so they are winning at that. The waitress said the owners have a house in NOLA and go a couple of times a year. That doesn’t give one the okay to say this is Louisiana cooking.
On behalf of the people of Louisiana, I’m sorry for your customers. Stick to cheese curds and leave southern cooking to the south. Disgraceful!
Loved the food, atmosphere, and staff!!! The beer was spot on and the jambalaya was incredible. We had to have the beignets and they did not disappoint. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu.
This place is great
Went for the first time yesterday and had a great time! Great menu selection and fish fry. Manager said they are going to be doing some events soon too - comedy, karaoke, etc. Excited to go back again!
Excellent food! I would absolutely recommend this place!9
I had deep fried oysters and they were great! Service and employees were great as well I will be back. Give it a try they have a great menu selection with great beer.
Pretty good. Very tasty food, very agreeable price, cool aesthetic, and good beignets. Has a proper sit down restaurant, bar, and lounge area.

Nice outdoor place to eat. My kids loved the water fountain.
I’ve seen this place so many times on my commute and finally wanted to give it a try on a Friday fish fry. The hostess was quite friendly, the server was ok… the food was awful. We ordered the fried okra, fried tilapia with sweet potato fries -all were so incredibly bland. Without the sauces it was have been inedible. We won’t be going back here- big disappointment.
My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Unfortunately, we did tonight. We arrived to no host, flagged down the bartender who told us to sit wherever. Raw oysters were huge (in a bad way), no briny/fresh flavor, tough and meaty parts. Couldn't eat them all because they were off. No lemon served, weak horseradish. Got a small portions of etoufee and gumbo. Fine but gumbo was flavorless. Got crab cakes that were mostly tasting of the bread crumb, and they were on top of lettuce and black beans? My beer was actually good, but my wife's margarita was bad, no tequila taste. Overall, not good. Won't come back. The fountain was nice! Oh also someone parked us in? Like parked in front of bus in a totally open parking lot when we pulled through our spot there was no real parking spot in front of us? Weird vibes!
We had a dozen oysters on the half shell w/ cheese curds, salad and catfish poboy. It was all incredible! 2nd time we've been here and this place is a hidden gem!
Came here to Madison to celebrate our 25th anniversary and had to check this place out, it definitely did not disappoint. The brews here were great, the staff friendly, and the food was outstanding! Had the jambalaya pasta and it was so flavorful with a bit of a kick to it...just as Cajun food should. Will definitely return when we can
