Really beautiful building. Great place to meet and study

It is always a great building to experience when on campus.

Our wedding at the union was fantastic! Sam Mack (venue coordinator) was a great communicator and all of the Union Staff was incredibly attentive and helpful throughout the planning process and day-of. We had our ceremony in Tripp Commons and our cocktail hour and reception in Great Hall. The food was good (not the best I've ever had, but also not the worst), the cocktails and drinks were great, and it was so nice not having to make a million different decisions. They really guide you through the process which was exactly what we were looking for. The Union has done hundreds of weddings and it really shows. The whole day went very smoothly and the price was right! Would highly recommend, especially for UW grads!

The Memorial Union/Terrace is such an iconic location in downtown Madison and we are so grateful to have had our wedding there after meeting each other in undergrad. Sam Mack, the event manager we worked with, was so helpful throughout the process and helped us make decisions if we were having trouble deciding something and all his suggestions were spot on. He was extremely communicative, responsive, helpful, and organized. He made planning the wedding a breeze and it was so helpful that so much is done in house that we really didn't need to worry about finding a number of other vendors or coordinating with multiple people. It was also such an affordable venue compared to others we looked at and the vibes are unlike anything you will ever find anywhere else. The venue itself was gorgeous. With the ceremony overlooking the Terrace, the people outside enjoying a nice day with their friends and families were all so excited and supportive of us when we were walking around and you won’t get that at any other venue. We had people at the terrace buy us beer and got such fun and iconic pictures because of it. The terrace crowd erupted in cheering and applause when we kissed at the end of our ceremony and it was such a fun, memorable, and cool memory. The staff were all so helpful and efficient. Dinner was served to everybody as fast as I’ve ever seen at any other wedding I’ve been to. The food was delicious, and from what the other vendors told us, the managers make it so easy for them to get in, get out, and set up/take down. The bar staff were so helpful and kind, and we couldn't be more grateful or appreciative to have gotten married at the Memorial Union. It was the best decision we made, hands down, especially as alumni. We would highly recommend doing your wedding at the union!

Floors are confusing.

Had the pleasure of stopping in and having dinner and drinks. The bartender was awesome and so personable...he gave great advice on the favorite items. The food and cocktails were phenomenal!! I cannot wait to go back.

Cool and relaxing place to have a quiet study session or just chill with friends.

Everything Bilbo writes below is still true, except I just paid $12 for some very sad looking food that left me hungry after finishing.

First off, this place has potential. The food seems high quality, tasty, and healthy. It's sort of like Chipotle, but for Mediterranean food. You order a bowl with a base (rice, salad, etc), a protein (falafel, chicken, gyro), and a couple sauces/sides. That said, there are a few major issues they need to address. 1. They have a ridiculous ordering process where you have to order on this touchscreen computer, and they only have one of them. What this leads to is that everyone waits in a long line while the person at the front tries to figure out how to use the touch screen ordering device, and meanwhile the people that work there are just sitting around not taking orders or serving food and just waiting on this one person at the front to finish putting in their order. It's weird and awkward. 2. The portion sizes are absurdly small. For $8, you get some rice, a few small pieces of meat, and a couple scoops of side measured out with a tiny scooper. You can tell they're measuring everything and not being generous with the portions. I was still quite hungry after finishing. I was expecting more for $8. 3. They don't take cash. 4. Sort of to point #1, they're really slow. Don't come here if you're in a hurry. That said, I think if they can address some of these issues, this could become a great spot, especially for those who work in the Discovery building.

Hello, I was just wondering where on campus you can find saffron, and if you take the uw madison meal plan? thanks!

I had not been back since late February 2020, just before shutdowns. Eerily quiet and empty, but the BLT wrap from the deli inside was great.

It was easy to reserve a table through Open Table but we missed the part about needing a $5 day pass which you need to get on another app. Then download GrubHub to order food and drinks. The staff were so friendly. But we were seated in a corner with no view by a rat trap. That was disappointing. The food is football food. Not the best but I guess expected. The really nice thing was not the usual terrace crowds. Picture of our view. And yes, there were other tables open.

Nice place with a cafe and restaurant but no vending machines?
