We came here based on some of the positive reviews we began seeing online. It was a Sunday evening and the place was fairly empty when we arrived. The atmosphere was nothing to write home about and the view from our table gave us a view of behind the bar where it was very messy. The waiter was nice but quickly became overwhelmed as about 10 other tables came in fairly quickly after us and he and the bartender were the only workers. I don't believe his poor service was a reflection of him but of the mismanagement of the schedule. My old fashioned cocktail was watery and way too sweet, the dinner was very bland. In fact we immediately decided to take it home so we could doctor it up and make it edible. The chicken picatta had no lemon flavor, it was covered in a white sauce and dotted with 3 capers... not good. We had to call for our check a few times and it took us over an hour to get out of there once we decided to leave. The bill was 90 bucks for 2 drinks, an app, a pasta and an entree which for a nice restaurant wouldn't be bad but it was incredibly overpriced for what we got. We agreed that this is one of the worst places we have been in the 15 years we've been in Madison which was disappointing.

We had reservations, seated promptly. Ultimately, we didn't need reservations despite it being Saturday night with an Overture Center show playing later. Waitress was pleasant, knowledgeable. Drinks were average. Forgot my spouse's second round. Also forgot add-on shrimp to my spouse's entre. Menu is huge. Food was overpriced for quality. Nothing was bad, just not amazing. Still had Valentine's Day decorations up. Music was old, very generic, heard several songs multiple times (and we were there less than 2 hours). There is no cohesive theme/concept.

I was skeptical because I haven't seen a lot of good reviews but I really liked Sass. I can't remember our waitress's name but she was great. Very attentive and speedy! I ordered the lobster ravioli with Alfredo sauce and a salad. The lobster inside was perfectly buttery and the pasta was cooked well. Super good and super filling. Not too expensive for seafood either. Inside the restaurant was quaint and cute. It wasn't too loud or too dark, it was perfect.

Wanted to try somewhere new in Madison and decided to try SASS even with the bad reviews. Really wish we hadn’t, the service was good but the food left a lot to be desired. The wonton pork appetizer was cold in the middle like it came out of the fridge or freezer, safe to say it wasn’t fresh. My wife’s tutto pasta dish lacked any real flavor and mostly tasted like pasta with warm tomato sauce. My ribeye came out blue-rare when I ordered it medium rare, they were nice about taking it back to cook it more but even then it lacked any real flavor, I will say the meat was very tender.Unfortunately we probably won’t be back, the quality of the food was way under what you’d expect for the high price.

This restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, but the food is sub-par. The gnocchi was mushy and extremely overcooked, and the flatbread is much smaller than expected. They seemed understaffed so service was a bit slow but our bartender, Peyton, was wonderful and very good at her job!!
I was a fan from the start. But now that they combined with Tutto, the menu is amazing. Bourbon St. Medley is still my favorite.
