I regret never going here in the before (the fire) times and I really was never sure it was a cafe because of the signage. Fast forward to 2025, the place is all new, and owner Patrick gave a compelling interview on Citycast Madison that put this spot on my radar.

It’s really cool inside, you could shoot a movie in there. Make sure you look up. The ceiling is shiny and exquisite.

The coffee is from Anodyne, a fave from Milwaukee. You’ll love it. In case you are wondering, they have brewed iced tea too.

Everyone working there is super friendly and they play terrific music

I haven’t met Patrick yet, but I know I will eventually

The Victory is the first coffee shop I entered in Madison that felt like my kind of place. Quaint, unique, cozy, small town vibes (across from a great bookstore too!)

The first time I went, I was having a stressful day job hunting but the owner, Patrick, greeted me, and made me feel welcome. He did more than say hi. He took time to ask about my day and hear about my job hunt.

Life got crazy, fast forward like a year and I’m on my way to Victory again and it is closed due to a fire!! I was devastated.

But! The Victory is up and running again and just as lovely. My siblings and I call it a vortex, because it’s like anything could happen there. We once found a leaf bug on our car when leaving.

The coffee is perfectly roasted with a slight bitter bite and the baristas will remember you and chat (if you want). Also, what is the deal with the Americana waffle??? It’s so frickin good. Go try it.

Cool spot! The glazed donuts where dense and so delicious! My new favorite spot for a glazed. Staff was easy going, polite, and helpful. Chill spot for a meet-up, light meal.

We ordered coffee only. I had an iced pistachio latte. This was our first time visiting victory. We were unsure which flavors to order as they were not posted anywhere. When we asked our barista what flavors they had he said in a hum drum way that they only had the common flavors, you know hazelnut, vanilla etc., he rattled off pistachio as a flavor the intrigued me as I've always wanted to try but never have. Needless to say I pondered on it only a few moments if I should try or not. As I was about to say I would try the pistachio the female barista who wasn't even making our coffee said in an inpatient way, so which flavor do you want. I just thought it was rude how she was rushing us. Not friendly at all. I was unimpressed by the coffee as well.

Yum! Stopped mid morning on a Wednesday, no line. Great vibe. Parked alongside street. Daughter got an iced vanilla latte with extra vanilla and loved it. Great flavor. I got a London Fog with added vanilla and lavender. London Fogs are my favorite but never had it with lavender before. It added a subtle flavor and was delicious. Drink was HOT which can be lacking at many shops as them serve them warm. Would be a regular of this location if we were local.

I’ve been visiting the Victory since it opened over a dozen years ago and keep coming because it’s rooted in the neighborhood, yet remains a place unto itself with a genuine community all its own. Folks bring their children here because Patrick takes kids seriously, makes them feel welcome, and cultivates a healthy, safe place to learn to be a member of a community. It’s a cozy, ebullient, friendly oasis. The staff Patrick employs embrace that ethos. If you want a bland corporate spot for a quick caffeine fix, hate music, find personality objectionable, want to project your entitlement onto those working in or sharing the space, or if you simply don’t want to spark a friendship as you have your coffee, maybe give The Victory a pass.

Kid-friendliness: Patrick goes out of his way to welcome kids and help them feel comfortable in an environment that might seem Grown Up to them. He’s a natural in his conversations with them and regards them as members of the Victory community.
