Transport yourself back to a simpler time and visit Beerntsen’s in Manitowoc.
It was originally founded in 1932 by Joseph Beernsten and remain a family owned business until 2003. The new owners, Dean Schadrie and his family have a background in making chocolate and stated that they would keep it the exact same.

This place has been great for like 100 years, do yourself a favor and check it out
First time I’ll n the store.
We both had so many different chocolates.
When we returned home we tried and the chocolate was so old not fresh at all.
Extremely disappointing. Wasted money on high hopes.

Beerntsen's Confectionary Inc. is a charming spot with well-preserved vintage architecture and high-quality chocolates. The store's setup requires staff assistance for most products, which can lead to a wait. Despite this, the double-dipped chocolate peanuts, malt balls, and chocolate-covered biscuits are must-tries. The staff can be hit-or-miss, but some are super helpful and very friendly service. Prices are decent, and Turtle Sundays are a highlight, featuring exceptional chocolate shakes. They have 32 different sundae options for you to choose from, and a small lunch menu. The peppermint chocolate and the milk turtle was good. This place is a treasure in Manitowac.
