We vacation in the Northwoods fall and winter, and "The Whale" is almost always our first stop when we hit town around Suppertime on our way into town. FIRST, our server Sophia, was wonderful...on the ball, quick, friendly. This year, we noticed a couple changes that we didn't care for. The problems were (1) we were there on a FRIDAY, and the "Friday Fish Fry Menu" doesn't give people many food choices if you don't want fish, shrimp, or clam...
A beautiful location on the lake, it serves great food staffed by really friendly people. We got the whitefish dip, wild rice clam chowder, and I had the Whale sandwich. All were delicious, accompanies by great views of boaters on the lake.
The food was AMAZING my husband got a fish sandwich that was great and I got there grilled chicken sandwich that was yummy. Plus gotta get the cheese curds! Our server Linda was the best! She was fast & attentive & friendly! The atmosphere was family friendly with games for kids it was loud but that didn't bother us, plus right off the water can't beat it. Will definitely be back & hopefully we get Linda again!
