Always a delight when coming up to Door County to one night have wild tomato takeout. My family and I had the wood-fired bread basket, which was amazing as the dips were delicious too. So with that, I expected the pizza to be great. However, there were some disappointments to be had. My family and I had the D-lux pizza. However, we had no sausage, and barely any pepperoni. No idea if there was any extra cheese. However, it was still very delicious.

This is amazing pizza even though we decided to go for takeaway. We went on a Monday during the off season and faced an hour wait. Be prepared. There's basically nothing else open in the winter. Thank goodness we stayed close by.

CHEESE CURDS TO DIE FOR/FROMThis popular pizza place on main street was full to bursting when I popped in, so I plumped for takeaway cheese curds. Those little taste bombs of squeaky goodness that should be enjoyed very occasionally. They were good and filling. Three stars because it was takeaway.

Pizza was good but if you want “wood-fired” pizza as they advertise, call ahead to make sure they haven’t run out of wood or you’ll be getting gas-fired pizza. Ours was gas as they apparently “ran out of wood.” We were told that if we want wood-fired, we need to call ahead next time and request that. Huh. Apparently there’s not enough wood in all of Door County to cook the pizza. ?♀️ We just felt deceived as the advertising was misleading.

I have enjoyed the food from the Wild Tomato quite often. However, getting into the wild tomato around dinner time is not very possible without a long wait.My recent experience is the reason for this review. I went to try to eat in the restaurant with my family and it was busy. Therefore, we opted to order a pizza to go. They were willing to make one, but when I went to pay with a gift card that I had received in the last year or so... I was told they no longer accept such cards... only their new ones. The card says on the back of it that it is good for 5 years. I can't recommend purchasing anyone a gift card from this chain.
Service, atmosphere, cleanliness, pizza, drinks, were all great. Highly recommend the margherita pizza! Don’t forget to get some of their sauce or marinara to take home!

Consistantly good pies, fun venue and good-natured staff. Beautiful views of the bay a great area to walk after taking in a meal. Right on the main strip in Door Co so it is usually a struggle to find a parking spot. Always enjoy our visit here and we will return!

Very large portions including kids friendly options The cherry walnut salad (small, $8) was actually a good amount of food. The cheese is very fluffy and light, like snow. The dried cherries were sooo flavorful and fresh. Candied walnuts were also very fresh and crunchy. The D-lux pizza (large) was pretty big and was pretty fresh and made well. Very thin tho. The Cajun pizza (small) was just as expensive and still pretty big. The sausage in Cajun is a bit spicy, and the crawfish was pretty good in flavor, but we all still preferred the D-lux.
