Back when cafe is a treat! I got the lumberjack salad that had fresh vegetables, which was delicious. For dessert, I had a chocolate cake that was so rich but so good. The atmosphere is very pretty, with live music, posters, and a patio with flowers. My only complaint was the service, which was a little slow and our waitress got mixed up a few times. Overall a great experience.
A really cool little joint in downtown Wausau. They're only open for dinner a few days a week but while open they seem to do a pretty good job. The bar tender, serving staff and host were great. We shared a few apps and pastas and will be visiting again.
I just adore Back When. Being from Wausau but having lived all over the country and traveled around the world it really stands out as a great local spot, with quality food, quality staff, and a charming atmosphere I always look for over a cheesy chain restaurant where everything is oversized and bland.
