We love everything about this place!! Food is amazing! Very relaxing atmosphere! And the service is always kind and quick. My son wants to go there again for his birthday at the end of the month, and I told him he could pick anywhere or pick anything for me to fix and out of all the options he wants the char (granted it's exactly what i would have picked too!!) Lol. Shrimp chowder is beyond belief, even if you don't like shrimp you will still love the shrimp chowder!!Parking: You do get to use a valet or you will have a lil hill to walk up when your doneIt's not bad at all but don't eat so much that you can't hardly walk, cause then it may get lil tough lol

Love the subdued, relaxed, 60’s elegance of Char! Nestled in a bucolic setting, the ambience makes one feel miles away from the drone of the city.Food was amazing! Everything from their homemade Italian salad dressing, salmon cooked to perfection—crispy exterior with a melt-in-your mouth interior, bacon-wrapped pesto chicken, to their made-in-house Pistachio Ice Cream pie was a perfect way to end the day. Debbie provided excellent service with the right blend of attentiveness. We will return!

Very bad food. There’s obviously no trained chef. Food is worse than most casual dining chains. Braciola was terrible. Will never go back. Go to any other restaurant in Beckley and you’ll be better served and have better tasting food. So sad a once iconic restaurant in Beckley has become such a disappointment.

Great food and wonderful service. The private drive to the restaurant and exterior makes you expect more from the blah interior. A little pricy and the menu could certainly stand to be updated with more modern food choices. Overall a good restaurant and I would recommend over the nearby franchise stops.

really solid steak and good drinks. for middle of nowhere, WV, this was a great meal on my way back home. sat at the bar by myself and was greeted quickly, had great conversation with the bartender, and enjoyed my meal.

I came in from Morgantown to meet friends for my partner’s 40th birthday. My friend & I both got the lobster tail. I’ve never had a piece of seafood so bad. They were so dry, tough, & bland that we couldn’t stomach them. I was floored when the server said the chef tried them and said they were “fine”. The replacements came out and they were slightly less overcooked, but still tough & dry. I took a bite and immediately spit it into my napkin because my mouth filled with the smell/taste of ammonia (rotten lobster). Also, the melted butter tasted like margarine.Our server was excellent and the restaurant had a great ambience.Our filets were cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. The appetizers and sides were sub-par.Unfortunately, we won’t be returning. We won’t hesitate spending money for a great meal, but the quality of food at the Char was a disappointment.

Love the food. Best steak ? and desserts ever! Was disappointed that I was not told there were different salads. All I got was lettuce with tomato on top and dressing. I couldn't eat it....be sure to ask about the different salads they have. The main dish and desserts were delish!
