The Volstead Room of the Hale Street Center

We were downtown on Friday and wanted to stay out and get some food. Saw this place had karaoke, which enticed my girlfriend, so we decided to try it out. We were shocked at how awesome this bar was. The looks and atmosphere were amazing, but sadly, it was dead when karaoke started at 9 (we got there around 8:45). There were maybe 10-20 people in the bar, not counting staff and the DJ, but it still felt lively. People slowly trickled in as time went on, so maybe it got busier after we left. Regarding the food, it was fantastic. The selection of food had good variety and the drinks were strong and creative. Everything was delicious and we felt super satisfied. Our server (forget his name) was friendly and attentive. He gave good recommendations and was funny. Overall, we had a great time and I pray this place gets the love it deserves.

Got the special for brunch and everyone ate off my plate! Served kinda slow but got there early so? Only complaint it's to dark! Couldn't see my menu!

I love this place for karaoke Friday and brunch on Sunday. I had two exquisitely perfect over easy eggs there last weekend. I appreciate that more than the most fancy dinner. I’ve brunched at many fancy places and they cannot cook an egg properly for any amount of money. My compliments to whoever cooked my eggs!!! Also, the rest of the brunch (tot waffle)was delicious, as well

We went for Restaurant Week. It was our first visit, and we loved it. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were very good. We will go back.

I was on property at the Hale Street Center on business as a DJ for one of their bridal clients and discovered a new Charleston gem of a restaurant in the basement called The Volstead. As I perused the menu, I noticed the bartender delivering a Bloody Mary. It’s presentation convinced me that I needed one of my own. It was very unique and very tasty. My waffle was delicious and I am, normally, a harsh judge of coffee. Theirs is fantastic. The service was fast and friendly. One of the coolest features was the post modern jukebox music videos that played continuously on TVs throughout the room. I will be back. You should give this place a try, if you haven’t already. They are open 6 days a week.

Got brunch here with some friends and family on a Sunday. Good atmosphere, good food, friendly service. Definitely recommend. :)

Great service for lunch. Not at all busy during a Friday at noon. The waitress was very friendly and so was the chef. Can’t recommend the Capone sandwich enough! Hummus was also very good. They also offer brunch on Sundays and fun evening events like karaoke, and murder mystery dinners. Very nice prohibition era feel. Very different than the traditional sports bars that get old around here

Utilized the volstead for my wedding rehearsal dinner and cocktail hour. Amazing service, perfect atmosphere, and the guests had the time of their lives. 10 out of 10

Guys!!!! What a fun night!!!!! This is my new place! The food was sooooo good. Those tots!!!! I wouldn’t have thought of that combination but so good! There was such a good crowd and a positive energy! Your place is so nice and clean and friendly!! We can’t wait to come back!!!! I didn’t win but maybe next time! Thanks for giving us something fun to look forward to!!!!! ?????
