Amazing food and exceptional service. If I ever find myself in the area again I will definitely eat there again. I would also look into staying there. While visiting a winery, the owner recommended we eat at the Bavarian Inn and I am so glad we took his suggestion!
Amazing food and ambience. We ate in the patio beautiful view in the river and the food was good German food. Highly recommend
Wonderful accommodations. The atmosphere is magical. We had a delicious dinner and it was perfectly prepared and presented. Guests can enjoy a free continental breakfast that featured fresh fruits, Danish, cheese and meats, eggs, bacon, yogurt and 4 types of juice. I can't wait to go back. Very relaxing.
Food was fantastic and the waiter was top notch
Great place, balcony over the Potomac, food very nice.
Nice historic place. Very friendly staff!! Food was 🤷🏻♂️ not great. It’s unfortunate. It needs to be better.
We love this place! The food in the restaurant is excellent. All the staff is great and our waiter Sam went above and beyond to make everything perfect. Incredible waiter.
This place is really cool in all ways. They have a massive dining and bar upstairs that was kinda busy when we went. They told us about a basement bar that was down the hall and it was amazing. It felt like a speakeasy, and they had a live piano player and everything. They have a massive beer and drink menu, so anything you can imagine - they have. Fantastic location and experience, we will forsure be back
Superb food & beer! If you're looking for German chow in the DMV, this is the place to get it!
I don’t want to be mean, but this is the first time I’m giving a one-star review and the first time I’ve ever complained at a restaurant. We chose this place for my dad’s birthday because he loves German food, and they assured us reservations weren’t needed. Yet, after waiting over an hour, we watched others who arrived after us get seated while we remained standing, all while carrying our baby in a carrier. The staff was completely disorganized, and when we finally complained, their response was a cold, dismissive “Sorry,” with no effort to make things right. My dad had driven a long way for this celebration, and we left feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and heartbroken. Even after more than a year, we haven’t forgotten how poorly we were treated.

Perfect place for a weekend getaway. The chalet was cozy. The food and service at the restaurant were outstanding and house beers were delightful. We will definitely come back in warmer weather.
I wanted to take my boyfriend for nice birthday dinner and he mentioned he had previously enjoyed Bavarian Inn. The atmosphere was lovely and the people friendly but the food was abysmal. We started with bread which was not fresh or homemade- clearly defrosted. crab pretzel- which had clearly been frozen- the crab was good, pretez almost inedible.
The sauerbraten was so tough and the sauce bled into the cabbage and what I think were potato balls but they were so dense I could barely chew and swallow them. The sauce was overly sweet and sort of ruined what I think was good cabbbage. He had something fried I think the jaegerschnitzel- but it was clearly fried prior to freezing and just reheated. We opted to skip dessert. Again service was friendly but if they cannot maintain such a large menu without just reheating frozen items, they should offer less or work on a new chef.
Food was bland, my wife’s sauerbraten was tough and tasteless and my beef stroganoff wasn't worth it. For $30 a plate, I was expecting something awesome. We were disappointed.
Reserved nice view windows side but even not occupied they said those seats reserved! What is it! I asked them when I call for reserved people for Windows' side table but Young girl ( maybe she is hall setvice) ignored it, it is already 4th time happened!
They are racist,we have to know that Asians and foreigners. Me and my companions hated it!!!!Bad place!!!
I had an amazing dining experience on 12/2/2024. I recently became a widower on 11/16/2024 and have had high anxiety about about out to eat dinner alone. I decided it was time and I selected the Bavarian Inn and I am so glad I did. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and the little details of things like silverware were extremely clean. I absolutely LOVE the rich history of this restaurant. I want to specifically recognize my waitress, Sarah D, who was knowledgeable about the menu and made several recommendations to me. The food was delicious. I am looking forward to another dining experience at the Bavarian Inn soon.
