My friend visited this weekend from DC. She grabbed coffee this morning and Garth made assumptions about her and began berating her for some unclear reason , but something to do with her contribution to the current political climate. She is a white woman and he basically blamed her for all of the country’s problems. He was also very unhappy that she paid with Amex and to cap it all off, said that women were more emotional than men, as she is now crying on the street. Do not recommend , hard pass.
Best coffee I’ve ever had and probably ever will.

I had the pleasure of visiting this incredible café during my first trip to West Virginia, and it exceeded all expectations. The aesthetics are stunning—warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. The drink menu is extensive, offering something for everyone, and I was honestly spoilt for choice!
The barista was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to help me select the tea. This café is a must-visit for anyone in the area.

I've lived in the area for almost five years now, and have been obsessed with tea for probably three times longer. To say this place has held down Shepherdstown for me would be an understatement. For a gem of a spot like this who specializes in tea and coffee, with a deep understanding and great selection of both, without any of the BS of being your average café that serves cheap quality drinks with a sandwich menu to front, is like a lake in the desert.
Garth, the owner, is often misunderstood but he is genuinely a treat to talk to every time. At first he may come off as brash, but it's really just misunderstood passion and love for his art and the world surrounding him. He remembers ALL of his customers while often going the extra mile for those who return, answers any and all questions to an extent that is always teaching you something new about his craft, he's open with where he sources his stuff, and so much more.
Additionally, this isn't to say he's what you'd imagine to be an unwelcoming elitist about his craft either. Whether it's a standard cup of drip coffee, sweet drink, or a complex cup of white tea, he wants you to experience it right. If you're gonna go out of your way to spend money on a drink, it ought to be good.
Despite traveling across the EC to big cities like Atlanta and NYC, no coffee/tea joint I've gone to comes close to offering what you will find here. Great tea, great coffee, great prices, great people, and plenty of seating in and outside. A must visit for both those new and those experienced in brewing tea or coffee.

I wanted so much to love this place but the owner was so rude. As a tourist I had no clue that they didn’t like credit cards. I was made to feel awful for not using cash. After the lecture he took my card and said that if things didn’t change he would only sell to the locals like the lady behind me in line. I am so sorry I inconvenienced him with my patronage, I will be sure never to do that again.
Thank you for the response. This helps prove my point about how to take care of all customers. May I suggest that if you had a sign saying cash only this could have all been avoided

What a lovely place! Got a red oolong and was thoroughly impressed. They definitely know how to brew a good cup of tea here. Very smooth, not at all astringent, naturally sweet and fragrant, no sugar needed! (Just the way I like it) Took it down to ths riverfront park and had a very relaxing start to my day. Cheers to the owner for helping me pick a tea and chatting with me while it brewed! Will definitely grab some bulk tea and beans before I leave town, though I doubt I would do as good a job brewing at home! They have the biggest pu erh selection I've ever seen in person, so if that's your thing you should swing by. I'm from Baltimore and am already looking forward to my next trip out to the area to try something new off the menu and then hit the trails :)

The coffee was very darn good. Sat down with the owner and he told me stories of fame and Fortune, and loss and redemption. An interesting man for sure. In previous lives, him and I were swashbucklers 100%. Peter Pan ain't got dooty on us!
Highly recommend this place!

Thoroughly impressed with this unique shop. They have a large tea selection and they also sell Monin syrup. The coffee tasted wonderful and the two men working were very nice. Today was my first visit and it certainly won’t be my last! If you’re looking for great coffee, look no further!

What a gem!! There’s an indoor shop and a walk up option to get your drinks. There were soooo many tea and coffee options. I got the iced mocha and it might be the best I’ve ever had! I’m very hard to impress and this is the real deal! I will def be back!!

Had some drinks here and spoke with the “senior business person” (inside joke) and walked away with the biggest smile. The original cool people. See you again, soon, young man :)
