So yes the hotel is really old but our room was a suite and it was beautiful. Loved the bathroom with the open shower and the ball and claw foot tub.

Had good time at bar two nites in a row but mostly cuz of patrons vs bartenders. One gal extremely cranky with rude comments about items not available on menu & how it would affect her tips etc. Her attitude affected tips more than items not available. Other two much better. Nice place with comfortable bar stools & good tunes available to play. Not a bad place, if you can ignore the one cranky old gal & if servers & bartenders stopped chatting with other employees & paid attention to customers.

Got charged 257 dollars for a room I canceled. Was hung up on, on the phone. Was talked to like I was an idiot and very rudely at the bar where it seemed to me the lady attending to us was drunk.

If I could give them a lower rating than "1" I would.Me, My lady, and our two kids made a reservation and had to change the date of stay to the following day without an issue on the phone.when we arrived at the hotel the staff just stared at us while we walked up to the bar to check in.The lady at the bar was rude, in a condensending manner and she told us the price of the room had increased to $257 the original price was $144There was no notice of this change on the phone and we were given no reason of the increase other than its because they moved us to room 38. Which was already our original reservation. We told them we would not like to stay at the Colter and easily booked a room at the Marriott just up the road. This morning they charged the $257 to our card anyway. This money was for the next two nights of our stay.To be treated like this by the Colter is truly upsetting ?

We made the trip from Idaho Falls just for a one night getaway to stay in a hotel with a restaurant downstairs and bar. We really enjoyed the room, super nicely decorated. We were disappointed to see the restaurant downstairs and breakfast in the morning were both closed via a note on the door (a website or booking notification would have been nice) it kind of ruined the whole purpose of the trip, since we had to eat elsewhere for everything. We did enjoy the bar that evening, although the service could have been better. Would probably try this place again since other than the closures, we enjoyed the facility. Overall would have been a great value!Walkability: Walkable to downtown restaurantsFood & drinks: The restaurant was closed via a note on the door. Looked super cute but unable to try it. The breakfast was also closed in the morning without warning (between the opening hours)Bar was nice, had pool tables and slot machines. Drinks were a great value! No cocktail menu but we were able to order what we asked for.

Made a reservation because my niece had surgery in afton. Drove 2.5 hours to get here and was denied our room because of her ADA service dog. This dog is not an emotion support aninal. It is certified and fully trained as a psychiatric animal. It states on the dogs license "the ADA mandates that this animal and owner have full access to all public places." With her ADA info including her registration number., her handler and the dogs name with a picture. We have traveled in hospitals, airports, hotels, and resturant with no issues. Very disappointed. We finally found a room with accommodation that were very nice and gave us no issues about the service animal.

Great hotel in downtown Afton WY. Reminds me of an old school establishment. Great dining area and an even better bar.

Old, but in an interesting, rustic sort of way. The room was rather large, sort of like a suite, with only one air conditioner, which did not do the job. Shower/bath tub did not drain properly. The highly touted restaurant was not open for dinner, but the hotel is within walking distance of downtown, which provides lots of opportunity for food and drink.

This place is great. When I arrived, there was a problem with my hotel reservation, and I didn't expect it to turn out well when the only person to talk to was the bar tender below the hotel. The hotel proved to be better than expected, the bar tender did a great job with the booking, and then manager who was off site that day quickly took care of the problem the next morning. This is a fun place to stay, and I am happy to recommend it to someone looking for a hotel in the area.Noteworthy details: Hotel management was great.

Loved our stay at the Colter Lodge - we weren't sure what to expect, but it was very much Wyoming, wild Wild West, looked authentic, authentic lobby, bar, restaurant - our room for four people actually slept 6, so very comfortable. Great large king beds, very high quality linens and towels, very clean and updated yet maintained the authentic rather historical look of the hotel. Center of town, lots of places to eat within walking distance - had breakfast at the lobby restaurant every morning and it was delicious - medium priced. Lots of choices. Would love to stay again!

Rooms were spacious, loved the game room, and there was Truffles the baby raccoon (personal highlight). The town itself was also very enjoyable to stay in.
