We're in Bedford, a tiny town in Wyoming, and my friend says 'If you want a great steak you should try the Mercantile in Atlantic City ... Wyoming. So we did, and it was wonderful. A quirky little place with history on all of the walls. Your steak is cooked over an open flame an a very old grill in the back. AC is basically a ghost town with one intersection and no paved streets. Hard to find, but worth it.
I read about it on facebook and thought it would be nice to be able to stop and partake of their food and check out everything that is in their mercantile. It is absolutly awesome. I would recommind it to everyone out of state or in Wyoming. I live in Montana but from Wyoming and have been through Atlantic City and South Pass City but it was always closed. If you’re like me and judge establishments by their taxidermy, there are not enough stars to hand out for The Mercantile in Atlantic City, WY. I’ve traveled extensively searching for pinnacle when it comes to rustic charm, and The Merc cannot be outdone. Beyond the aesthetics, the server at the bar was attentive to our needs and our lunch was fast and hit the spot after a day of blue grouse hunting at my secret spot (don’t bother asking me).
