My family used to get a half of a beef from my husband's uncle and then from his cousin who raised cattle for years. They have since retired from the industry and now that it is just the two of us at home, we needed a place to get high quality regional meats in much smaller quantities. We also enjoy picking up a sandwich from their restaurant side. Even though we can't get our family's beef, I enjoy knowing that the same care goes into the Meatery's selections. Thank you for providing top quality food and service.
Husband got a bison burger and I got a jalapeño burger. WOW! They were both absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly, fresh buns, yummy fries…can’t wait to go back. As locals we are really excited to have this new go-to spot.
We visited The Meatery and they happened to be closed that day. We asked the manager if they recommended an alternative, since we were only in town for one night and had just gotten married. The manager ended up giving us several cuts of meats for free, refusing to let us pay. The hospitality and kindness was touching. We ended up coming back several days later and leaving a tip in the tip jar, and placing another order online. The meat was great and the hospitality was even better.
Wasn't a fan of the food. Tried the 1/3rd lb wagyu burger with LTOP and it tasted super bland. I question the idea behind putting the pickled veggies on the bottom bun, but that didn't impact the review. Their kitchen staff was super friendly which is always beneficial. The baskets the food is served in is also strange. Doesn't give you a whole lot of room for dipping sauces or activities. Good portions overall though.
Excellent bison burger and the bun was toasted to perfection! They also had ho.emade pickles o. The burger that tasted great. I also enjoyed the soup of the day...steak and mushrooms! The staff was very friendly and helpful with ideas for other things to do while in town. Restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms. Highly recommend!
One word comes to mind for this wonderful restaurant: "Fantastic". I haven't met a single owner who is as enthusiastic about his meats as I did at the Meatery. Anything you'd like to know, you'll know!Their burgers are just heavenly, it's a blast of flavor and texture. I usually do not enjoy fries, but the Meatery changed my perspective.Amazing food, extremely approachable staff, and food that's worth every penny. I highly recommend this eatery!
My husband and I stumbled across The Meatery while looking for a place to eat during our stay in Cody. This is a local butcher/ farm to table eatery. You select the cut of meat you want and they will cook it for you. I had the NY strip which was tender, moist and delicious. My husband had the bison steak which after tasting his made me wish I had ordered that as well. The customer service was also exceptional.
Amazing Delicious Perfectly prepared Bison! Thoroughly enjoy the pulled Bison sandwich, side of fresh Carrot Cumin soup , and homemade pickles! The Bison was cooked to perfection, perfectly shredded, and beyond tender and juicy. This is a gem of a location to dine indoors or out. We chose to dine out and enjoy the Deer as the arrived to dine on surrounding gardens. Friendly staff and great service! Highly recommend this restaurant and to support Local .
Really friendly staff. Order as soon as you get in and sest yourself from there. Indoor and outdoor seating. The have a packaged meats to take home. Pulled bison sandwich was ok, the bun they used was too dry. The bbq sauce was really good, seemed smokey, probably paprika. The side pickle didn't taste like dill, more like black pepper and celery seeds. Really good serving size.
Disappointed by the quality of cooking, but the service was nice. The Wagyu burgers and grass feed burgers were significantly over cooked and very dry, the nachos were served without melting the cheese, and the philly cheese steak was undersized. I had also ordered a soup with the philly, and it was served cold. The prices definitely had my expectations higher.

We stopped in Cody on our way out of Yellowstone after a few days in the park, and decided on The Meatery for our lunch. The menu was a little different than what was on the web site, and they didn't have one of the items we were planning to order. Fortunately, everything we did order was good. When we arrived (on the early side for lunch) there was no one there so we ordered right away and got our food quickly. It got busier as we ate our lunch out on the patio. The people were very helpful and friendly. It was a bit pricey but I guess everything is now.

My husband and I have been wanting to try The Meatery for a while. We finally tried it. It was a bit disappointing, unfortunately. We both go the double 1/4# with cheese made into a salad. I got chili and he got fries. As soon as our meals came out, we noticed the burgers looked like they were pre-made as if previously frozen. The burgers were very over cooked. I used to like my burgers well done but this was way passed that. My husband used to tease me, saying my burgers looked like hockey pucks, and this is what they looked like. Very dry burgers. Oh, and they forgot the cheese. They gave us shredded cheese after the fact. Maybe some of their other meats might be better. We agreed that the only thing good we had was the chili and the fries. I did take my burger salad home. I doctored up the salad my way, threw out the rest of my burger and just finished off the salad part. Such a shame, we were expecting better. We expected the burgers to be freshly made by hand, cooked to our liking. My husband asked for his burger medium rare. It was very well done.
By the name we expected exceptionally tasty meat. My wife and I ordered and shared the pork chop special with fries and the meat was tasty but on the tough side. Our daughter and son-in-law had a shredded beef and an Angus burger and the meat was not as tasty as expected. Their fries were good.
Best burger I've ever had + Great place for celiac - dedicated process and grill for celiacs.I've been regularing this place since I've move to Cody and after around 12 visits I have yet to get sick. The restaurant is very accommodating to many allergies and the staff is trained to ask. If I'm not mistaken the owner is celiac or perhaps a family member so they understand the struggles.Even if you aren't a celiac or have no allergies, the food is still one of the best in town. They offer bison burgers and regular burgers. The fries are also to die for. They're like a better version of in and out
